Health care reform is here, and YPNation contributors are talking about it.
"Late last night, the House approved by a narrow margin of 219 to 212 sweeping changes to the nation's health system. It was the final showdown of a long, bloody battle--one that sharply divided Congress, and even the nation. But the conversation about health care reform has really only just begun, as we implement the reform, witness its impact and build upon its foundation.
In anticipation of Sunday’s vote, YPNation contributor Ryan Lynch, 28, and a consultant at the non-profit Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse, asked of the YPNation team what they thought the impact of the insurance mandate would be."

House Republicans, in an effort to derail the bill, introduced a “motion to recommit” that would have reintroduced the abortion amendment cosponsored by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-Pa.).
In a dramatic gesture, the pro-life Stupak rose to speak against the amendment saying that it was nothing more than an effort to deprive 32 million Americans of health insurance. Democrats rose to applaud the much-maligned Stupak.‘Baby Killer’ Yelled At Bart Stupak During Health Care Debate (VIDEO)... more

Health care reform has arrived on the floor of the House of Representatives, with a final vote likely this evening. The proceedings (live C-span stream; House clerk's log) aren't easy to follow without quick access to government documents, blog updates, academic studies, news sites, and public statements from interested parties. Slate has gathered links to the most important of these, with summary descriptions of their significance.

According to the AP:
Businesses would not be required to provide health insurance under legislation being readied for Senate debate, but large firms would owe significant penalties if any worker needed government subsidies to buy coverage on their own, according to Democratic officials familiar with talks on the bill.
I was very recently Debating with someone on whether it would be likely to see a personal mandate.... this article reads like that is very very likely
I must in the interest of full disclosure, state that i don't know who the sources are and i personaly am very doubtful of the validity of these claims.
the article claims sources as "Democrats" but it is also possible that this is the newest part of the misinformation champaign
this part however makes that seem unlikely:
It would expand coverage to millions who lack it, ban insurance industry practices such as denial of coverage for pre-existing medical conditions and slow the growth in medical spending nationally.According to the AP:

Republicans on Capitol Hill who are fighting to prevent the Democrats' proposals for health-care reform, particularly the so-called "public option," from becoming law are finding themselves on the outs with public opinion --again. In this story, Ben Protess and I tracked an activist group called the League of American Voters to find the origins of just one of the hastily arranged groups influencing the current health care debate.
Interviews and a review of public records show that a wide-ranging group of people coalesced to launch the League or its ad campaign: Dick Morris, a former aide to President Bill Clinton and one of the nation’s more flamboyant political operatives; a one-time West Virginia political candidate; a New York City public relations executive with ties to health care groups; a New York rabbi; a filmmaker best known for an ad questioning the patriotism of Vietnam War veteran and then-Georgia senator Max Cleland; and a Florida doctor who once settled a state medical board allegation that he had operated on the wrong site during a spinal procedure. In this story, Ben Protess and I tracked an activist group called the League of... more

“Health Care for Profit, Not for People!” “Let Them Eat Advil.” "Fear, Lies, Sedition! Pre-Existing-Condition!"
Echoing through the streets of Washington on Saturday, the chants of a new political formation are sweeping the nation: The Billionaires for Wealthcare!
On Saturday 9/12, tens of thousands of conservative activists marched in Washington in opposition to big government and the Obama health care plan. Inspired by right-wing Fox News pundit Glenn Beck and funded and organized by Freedom Works, the organization directed by former congressman Dick Armey, the march was a much-hyped follow-up to anti-tax rallies on April 15th.
Among the marchers were the satirical Billionaires for Wealthcare, a self-described “grassroots network of health insurance CEOs, HMO lobbyists, talk-show hosts, and others profiting off our broken health care system.” They joined the march to “thank the teabaggers for protecting health-care industry profits.”
The Billionaires motto is: “If we’re not broke, don’t fix it.”“Health Care for Profit, Not for People!” “Let Them Eat... more

ADL Says Use Of Nazi Imagery In Health Care Debate 'Outrageous And Inappropriate'
New York, NY, August 7, 2009 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today called attempts by some opponents of health care reform to bring Nazi imagery into the debate, "outrageous, deeply offensive and inappropriate" and condemned remarks by talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, who compared President Obama's health care logo to a swastika, and policies championed by the Democratic Party to those of the Nazis.
"Regardless of the political differences and the substantive differences in the debate over health care, the use of Nazi symbolism is outrageous, offensive and inappropriate," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor. "Americans should be able to disagree on the issues without coloring it with Nazi imagery and comparisons to Hitler. This is not where the debate should be at all."
In recent days, street protests against President Obama's health care plan have gotten ugly, with some protestors appearing in photographs wearing swastika and SS symbols.
That prompted Rush Limbaugh to remark on his radio program that, "They accuse us of being Nazis, and Obama's got a healthcare logo that's right out of Adolf Hitler's playbook." He went on to compare certain Democratic Party policies to those of the NazisADL Says Use Of Nazi Imagery In Health Care Debate 'Outrageous And... more
