Blacks in Cuba: A look at being black in Cuba and issues of race, racism, and their reflection in society and everyday life in the island nation.
In Cuba Professor Gates finds out how the culture, religion, politics and music of this island are inextricably linked to the huge amount of slave labor imported to produce its enormously profitable 19th century sugar industry, and how race and racism have fared since Fidel Castro's Communist revolution in 1959Blacks in Cuba: A look at being black in Cuba and issues of race, racism, and their... more

The footage looked like a high definition version of a Cold War pep rally: Military hardware paraded through the streets of Havana, fighter jets zooming overhead and hundreds of thousands of Cubans celebrating their country’s victory at the Bay of Pigs in 1961.
"The event with which Cuba is celebrating its half century of socialism opened with a salute to the participating troops,” noted Granma International, the Communist Party’s official broadsheet. The march commemorated 50 years since 1,500 CIA-trained exiles, some with links to the US mafia, unsuccessfully attempted to storm the island and overthrow Fidel Castro’s socialist government.
"Children, young people and veterans took part in a symbolic enactment recalling historical achievements of the Cuban people,” Granma newspaper stated. The footage looked like a high definition version of a Cold War pep rally: Military... more

In the mid 1970’s Abelardo Valdez, Jimmy Carter’s USAID Assistant Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean wrote a report on Mexico’s economic/industrial status. In that report it was stated that at that time the vast majority (three-quarters) of Mexico’s industry was comprised of American-based transnational corporations. It makes sense. And oh by the way, I can’t see that percentage being smaller today.
Through my studies of history, political science and unconventional war it has become clear that Euro Anglo Israelis are a potent force on the entire Western Hemisphere and of course the world. In the mid 1970’s Abelardo Valdez, Jimmy Carter’s USAID Assistant... more

A public servant who was sworn in with the promise to uphold the constitution of the United States of America is applauded for praising dictator Fidel Castro, his assassin Ernesto "Che" Guevara and Communism. I wonder if she would have the guts to say that in front of Cuban exiles?
I wonder if democrats realize that their party is being taking over by communists, disguised as liberal democrats!
This is what she said..........
[[[[[It was just mentioned to me by our esteemed speaker, “Did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system?”
And lemme tell ya, before you say “Oh, it’s a commu–”, you need to go down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And I want you to know, now, you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro, but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met. [APPLAUSE]
And you know, the Cuban revolution that kicked out the wealthy, Che Guevara did that, and then, after they took over, they went out among the population to find someone who could lead this new nation, and they found…well, just leave it there (laughs), an attorney by the name of Fidel Castro…]]]]]A public servant who was sworn in with the promise to uphold the constitution of the... more

After 50 years of revolution, 47 years of an embargo, hundreds of assassination plots, one failed invasion, and unquantifiable lies and slander by the United States government and American media outlets, the world faces the prospect of a crumbling American empire and a Cuban revolution that will survive it in the context of an increasingly independent and socialist Latin America. The multi-polar world is a reality.
By 2003, the beginnings of change had begun to manifest themselves, as Fidel Castro explains towards the end of his speech. In these 44 minutes, he discusses the Bush doctrine, education, health, immigration, the Cuban electoral system, mass media and communication, and neoliberal globalization. He even touches upon "an international economic crisis."After 50 years of revolution, 47 years of an embargo, hundreds of assassination plots,... more

n May 2003, ex-Cuban president Fidel Castro was in Argentina to attend the inauguration of the new Argentinian president, Nestor Kirchner. Just two months earlier, the United States had plunged itself into a world of intellectual darkness by pre-emptively and illegally invading Iraq. Against this backdrop, Fidel Castro delivered a 2 1/2 hour speech on the steps of the law school to thousands of Argentinians, yet the footage has the feeling as if he was speaking to the entire continental mass that comprises the Americas.
In these videos, 44 minutes have been excerpted and provided with translation so that people from the English speaking world have the opportunity to form a better criteria by which to judge one of the most historically important Americans(in this sense, someone from either of the Americas) of the 20th and 21st century.n May 2003, ex-Cuban president Fidel Castro was in Argentina to attend the... more
