Scott Lively is also directly connected to the kill-a-gay legislation in Uganda, which would make homosexual activity punishable by a lengthy prison sentence and/or death. Lively is the co-author (with Kevin Abrams) of The Pink Swastika, which poses the notion that homosexuals are the true inventors of Nazism, a preposterous position that Jonathan Zimmerman, a historian at New York University, states is a “flat-out lie.”

Everyone's talking about people using iPads at schools and hospitals, but if you want to know what the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has been saying about iPads that will cost $113,680.
That is the fee the GSA said they would need for "search and review time" after being asked in a Freedom of Information request for memos and documents that talk about the pros and cons of employees using iPads, according to a letter posted by Boing Boing.
If that seems like a ridiculous amount of money, keep in mind that the U.S. Citizen Immigration Services wanted $111,930 for some basic data about what was essentially a large Excel spreadsheet.

School administration in Madisonville, Tennessee tells a group of student collecting signatures for a Gay Straight Alliance Club (GSA) that it must stop or they will face suspension. The group had collected 150 signatures of support.
Everyone knows gathering signatures is the gateway to "community organizing" and no good can come from that, only change and change is bad.
If they don't stomp this down who knows what's next? Voting?! Campaigning for candidates or causes?! Fundraising for or electing liberals?
In June 2011, in response to similar incidents around the country of administrations attempting to block Gay/Straight Alliance groups, Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan circulated a Dear Colleagues Letter (PDF) reminding educators of their obligations to the Equal Access Act passed in 1984 and signed by President Ronald Reagan:
In 1984, Congress passed and President Ronald Reagan signed into law the Equal Access Act, requiring public secondary schools to provide equal access for extracurricular clubs. Rooted in principles of equal treatment and freedom of expression, the Act protects student-initiated groups of all types. As one of my predecessors, Secretary Richard W. Riley, pointed out in guidance concerning the Equal Access Act and religious clubs more than a decade ago, we “protect our own freedoms by respecting the freedom of others who differ from us.”
The general rule, approved by the U.S. Supreme Court, is that a public high school that allows at least one noncurricular student group to meet on school grounds during noninstructional time (e.g., lunch, recess, or before or after school) may not deny similar access to other noncurricular student groups, regardless of the religious, political, philosophical, or other subject matters that the groups address.
Courts are not likely to take kindly to a school that is using administrative procedural roadblocks as an excuse to selectively approve or deny individual student organizations.
It might bring some solace to administration to know even of they are successful in establishing this group, they will still face daily reminders they are less worthy than other students.
Nathan Carroll, told WATE:
"Just yesterday, students across the room would yell, 'God hates gays.'"
Yeah, that's not going to go away in Tennessee anytime soon, even with gay-straight alliances.

LGBTQ Black folks have been major contributors to society and social justice movements for hundreds of years! From the famous scientist George Washington Carver to the legendary blues singer Ma Rainey – LGBTQ Black figures have made long-lasting contributions and have had a significant influence on U.S. culture. It is important for GSAs to celebrate the contributions of Black LGBTQ people and to advocate for the visibility of these important historical figures. Recognizing how interconnected our oppressions are makes our movements stronger.
One way GSA clubs do this is by celebrating Black History Month every February. If your school has no Black History Month celebration, organize with your GSA to start an official commemoration at your school. Work with administration and staff, student groups, and others to ensure the lives of LGBTQ Black historical figures are included in your school’s activities.
Here are some helpful ideas of activities you can do at your school during Black History Month:

You may have seen Current TV mentioned a few times in the media over the past couple weeks due to the controversial and hard hitting documentary we've worked on with Nick Ahlmark and Nicole Precel called 'Incest: The Last Taboo?'
Last week ITV's 'This Morning' interviewed 'Ruth' about her GSA experience falling in love with her biological father and having his baby. It's an emotional and revealing interview about a relatively unknown topic. Click the link below to see that interview.
