This scene is absolutely beautiful, and when I realized that this picture was taken on a crowded subway train, the shot becomes doubly impressive. It's like an "art history moment." The quality of the light and the subject matter of this photograph bring to mind Rembrandt's “Return of the Prodigal Son.” The dark and light/the yin and yang is such a great metaphor for when people contemplate both the darker and more righteous sides of their personalities.
