Layar is a free application on your mobile phone which shows what is around you by displaying real time digital information on top of reality through the camera of your mobile phone.
The environment for AR is developing rapidly because of how readily available a viewer (mobile phone) is to people. Mobile devices equipped with GPS, cameras and web access have made using AR very practical and as easy as looking around you through your camera’s lens.
In the near future, mobile communications and technologies (like laptops and cameras) will be reduced to nothing more than viewers (or glasses) that access and manipulate remotely hosted data through virtual graphic user interfaces.Layar is a free application on your mobile phone which shows what is around you by... more

John Mellencamp’s son Speck has created a facebook page urging his father to quit smoking.
Speck created the facebook group because he “made a deal” with his dad that he’d think about quitting smoking if Speck could get 1,000,000 other people to care enough to join.
What’s weird to me is why John wouldn’t do it first for himself and maybe even second for his own son rather than waiting around for a million other people to care.John Mellencamp’s son Speck has created a facebook page urging his father to... more

You’ve heard of mashups, clips of seemingly unrelated video that once mashed together makes some level of sense. Now let me introduce you to the “mishmash™.”
The mishmash™ was born out of necessity as a way for me to explain messy video edits like today’s video edited from the hour long Morning Browser (a monster mishmash™, if you will). I could call it “a complete mess,” but that isn’t cool enough for me and it’s already been trademarked by mainstream media.
The dictionary says a mishmash is “a collection or mixture of unrelated things; a hodgepodge or motley assortment of things.” Webster’s can go ahead and add a new definition for mishmash™ to its 2010 list of edits.
The mishmash™ is a video that was edited in about 10 or 15 minutes before a person has to take a shower and run off to their day job. It’s often an attempt to make a mashup but very often fails, resulting in a string of bad edited clips that often have nothing to do with one another.
A mishmash™ might hint at the editor’s intended message with the short video, but very often it does not. Mishmashes demonstrate the editor had very little time or editing skills.
Giving these type videos only one gold star rating is acceptable only if they are passed off as a mashup with some purpose or meaning. But when called a mishmash™, these videos deserve 5 gold stars and worthy praise, if not a comment or two asking for more information. You’ve heard of mashups, clips of seemingly unrelated video that once mashed... more

The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense. Lists are public by default (but can be made private) and the lists you've created are linked from your profile. Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts. The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you... more

As right-wing radio foments anger over President Obama's scheduled speech to students next Tuesday, I'm reminded of a politically motivated elementary school assignment that inspired me all the way to the White House. The assignment was in praise of Ronald Reagan, even though I became a Democrat. This video is a brief video mashup of news items features Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, Charles Krauthammer, and others illustrating how this confusion and anger was fomented as well as pointing you to a resource that outlines Tuesday’s speech to the nation’s school children. As right-wing radio foments anger over President Obama's scheduled speech to... more

This video explores how America's current status quo health care system, the Republican plan for health care, encourages abortion and keeps America ranked as 29th in infant mortality - below that of a Communist dictator's health care in Cuba. Under proposed health care reform, pregnant women without health insurance or who have been denied coverage because of the "pre-existing condition" of simply being pregnant, can choose life as a viable option rather than the cheaper options they face under the current system promoted by the Republican party. This video explores how America's current status quo health care system, the... more
