For this release, “Baud Of Passion”, x|k slows it down a little, and the album is less intense when compared to his hard techno output on 8bitpeoples. But this new release loses none of the dancefloor sensibilities. “warm wishes” follows the general aesthetic of minimal techno, with short blips and a restrained bassline, “hwy chipmusik” has a nice driving detroit style bass, while “aktivity” was made to be put into a set at full-tilt, with its rave stylings. The release really drives home the point that good music can be made on anything, and should be. x|k’s mastery of the raw waveforms of the NES and his skills in engineering his own music production system have set him out for cult status. If you ever get to experience his legendary live sets you are bound to leave the floor completely stunned. http://www.freeturbine.com/index.php/free-albums/X/44-xk/52-baud-of-passion-For this release, “Baud Of Passion”, x|k slows it down a little, and the... more

This collaborative act between F.S Blumm and Lucrecia Dalt is just more than mesmerizing – it is quite hard to search for a more proper sentence to describe the result. One`s can detect for elaborated guitar chords, semi-tones and fully fragmented light, adjacent to the organic electronic imprecation which is brought forth through repetitive loops (moreover, acquiring even krautrock-ish characteristics at times) and gently rising progressions, all of that reaching out from the subtle glockenspiel touches to noiseful guitar explorations, from quasi-orchestrated developments to drowsy fingerpicked magic. In a nutshell, a subsequent folk-related instance under the La bèl label. http://www.freeturbine.com/index.php/free-albums/F/20-fsblummlucrecia-dalt/24-cuatro-coversThis collaborative act between F.S Blumm and Lucrecia Dalt is just more than... more

Although “The “Priest” They Called Him” might be the most obscure thing in Kurt Cobain’s discography, it’s probably the best selling musical collaboration of William S, Burroughs’s recording career. Basically, in 1992, Cobain contacted his hero, Burroughs about doing something together. Burroughs sent him a tape of a reading he’d done of a short story originally published in his Exterminator collection in 1973 and Cobain added some guitar backing based on “Silent Night” and “To Anacreon in Heaven.” http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/album-rewievs/20607-when-kurt-cobain-met-william-burroughs-free-albumAlthough “The “Priest” They Called Him” might be the most... more

Made up of migrants from various countries, including Russia, China and Uruguay, Gogol Bordello’s first album was released in 1999. Trancontinental Hustle is their fifth. What makes this undeniably innovative band, with its fusion of a range of world musical styles with the energy of punk rock, so significant right now? Gogol Bordello’s music has always been political, but growing racist attacks from First World governments has provoked a more explicit stance of resistance. Across Europe, Roma are facing extreme and growing persecution. Roma have, once more, become scapegoats of a capitalist economic crisis. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/album-rewievs/10503-gogol-bordelloMade up of migrants from various countries, including Russia, China and Uruguay, Gogol... more

Imagine a two-man band that used a droning Farfisa organ with primitive drum machines with plodding rhythms that were accompanied by rockabilly howling from the bowels of hell. You might raise and eyebrow out of curiosity but ultimately decide to pass on listening to tunes by such a band. Now imagine this band during the 1970's in the context of groups of Yes and Genesis and how people might have reacted to this outlandish and abrasive sound. The band, of course, is Suicide. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/album-rewievs/386-suicideImagine a two-man band that used a droning Farfisa organ with primitive drum machines... more

"...One thing I want to point out right now: THIS IS NOT A REUNION. It's not some dumb-ass nostalgia act. It is not repeating the past. After 5 Angels Of Light albums, I needed a way to move FORWARD, in a new direction, and it just so happens that revivifying the idea of Swans is allowing me to do that...." http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/album-rewievs/369-the-swans-"...One thing I want to point out right now: THIS IS NOT A REUNION.
