Astronomers, including a NASA-funded team member, have discovered a new class of Jupiter-sized planets floating alone in the dark of space, away from the light of a star. The team believes these lone worlds probably were ejected from developing planetary systems. The discovery indicates there are many more free-floating Jupiter-mass planets that can't be seen. The team estimates there are about twice as many of them as stars. In addition, these worlds are thought to be at least as common as planets that orbit stars. Our cosmos was "bruised" in collisions with other universes. Now astronomers have found the first evidence of these impacts in the cosmic microwave background. There's something exciting afoot in the world of cosmology. The UK was among a group of countries to sign a treaty against the use of cluster bombs in 2008, however some nations like the US did not sign.
Though according to the article, in April this year Parliament noted the government was storing cluster bombs for the US in UK territory (land leased in the Indian Ocean Island Diego Garcia) and stated the removal of the bombs.
""I can confirm that the US has identified its cluster munitions on UK territory as exceeding its worldwide operational planning requirements. Therefore, these cluster munitions will be removed from sites in the UK in 2010 and from all UK territories by 2013."
However, Wikileaks shows the Foreign Office informed the US on a loophole, which would mean the banned cluster bombs could still be stored there without the knowledge of MPs.
