The Riverboat Gamblers' guitarist Ian MacDougall spent two days in an intensive care unit after being run over by a car.
McDougall was riding his bike home the night of Oct. 17, and was hit by a car. He was rushed to Austin's Brackenridge Hospital, where he suffered from hemorrhaging under his skull, a broken hip, a broken wrist and a long list of minor cuts, bruises and other small injuries. He was moved from the ICU earlier this week, and the band said he'll make a full recovery -- although his financial situation looks dire.
"On another unfortunate note, there are a pile of bills currently gaining a Mt. Everest-like summit from all his hospital expenses," the band revealed in a statement.
To help defray the costs of a lengthy hospital stay, the band's set up a PayPal account and solicited fans for help paying the bills. Money can be sent to ian.gambler@gmail.com for the cause.This band is one of my favorites. They've given me much joy, so I will give... more
