The CIA is not now nor has ever been a central intel agency. It is the covert action arm of foreign policy. It overthrows or supports foreign Gvts while reporting "intelligence" justifying those activities. It Shapes its intelligence, even in such critical areas as Soviet nuclear Weapon capability, to support policy. Disinformation is a large part Of its covert action responsibility, and the American people are The primary target audience of its lies. ...... Mar 26, 1996 - Reuters news reports yesterday state that unrest in the Jabal Akhdar mountains of Eastern Libya is caused by armed rebels who may have joined escaped prisoners in an uprising against the government. This is an operation to overthrow Gaddafi led by Col. Khalifa Haftar, of a contra-style group based in the United States called the Libyan National Army. The army is the military wing of the Salvation Front for the Liberation of Libya. It is obvious that the CIA is behind this group and indicates a new "awakening" for the CIA now that it has been cleared and re-energized by all the various official exonerations; and led by the new Director Deutch who pushes for more covert operations. With "Mr. Intervention," Richard Haass of the Council on Foreign Relations advising the government on intervening via mililtary and covert operations toward China and probably also Libya and the rest of the world, we can expect a number of additional "successful" CIA covert operations similar to that of Vietnam, Central America and Afghanistan.......... read all Secret CIA BASE files http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/43035-cia-libya-links-The CIA is not now nor has ever been a central intel agency. ast week, an upcoming gallery show of work by the late photographer Tim Hetherington was announced, the inaugural exhibition of The Bronx Documentary Center that was founded earlier this year. The exhibition, titled “Visions,” is a collection of never-before-seen photos by Hetherington, a British-American photographer who lived in Brooklyn. He was a longtime Vanity Fair and CNN contributor who died in April while covering the conflict in Libya, along with fellow conflict photographer and Brooklyn resident Chris Hondros.
It is amazingly ironic that the announcement of the exhibition of Tim Hetherington’s work coincided precisely with published reports that Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, the erratic, provocative dictator who ruled Libya for 42 years, had finally met a violent and vengeful death in the hands of the Libyan forces that drove him from power.
Hetherington was most famous for his Academy Award-nominated 2010 documentary “Restrepo,” which he filmed with Sebastian Junger in 2007. The film follows the Army platoon assigned to what was then the most dangerous posting in Afghanistan, The Korengal Valley, to clear it of insurgents and gain the trust of the local populace. In the course of the film, the platoon builds a new outpost they name after Juan Sebastian Restrepo, a comrade who was killed during the early days of the 15-month assignment.
On April 20, Hetherington was trailing rebels in the besieged coastal city of Misurata in Libya, when he and Hondros were killed in an explosion from a rocket-propelled grenade. He left behind 40 rolls of undeveloped 220mm film. The negatives revealed a fascinating mix of what Tim called “the theater of war,” men strutting with their guns, as well as landscapes, graffiti, and men firing guns and rocket-propelled grenades in battle. And a vase of plastic flowers in a bullet-marked room. Seventeen of the prints will be on display in the Bronx Documentary Center show as 36- by 30-inch prints hanging from the ceiling on two large wood panels, beginning October 22nd.
This piece includes a number of high-resolution color photographs, a remarkable photo-gallery and five documentary short films.

An African man died Thursday after succumbing to injuries sustained from what appears to be an intense game of hide-and-seek gone wrong, witnesses said.
The 69-year-old man, whose name has never actually been agreed upon, apparently became injured after being found hiding in a large infrastructural orifice in his hometown.
"The guys who found him actually seemed pretty angry about it," a witness to the game said. "It kind of makes me wonder if this man they found had taken one of their daughters out on a date and never called her again. Or maybe he owed them money."
After being pulled from the orifice, the exchange between the old man and his captors escalated quickly, eventually leading to punches being thrown, and, allegedly, bullets being fired from very close range.

According to the Reuters News Agency, a large military convoy has been seen crossing from Libya into Niger this evening. The convoy comprises 200 to 250 vehicles and is transporting Libyan military officers; Reuters learned of the convoy from French and Niger sources, and it has been speculated that Colonel Qaddafi and his son, Saif al-Islam would be joining the convoy. The convoy is headed to Burkina Faso, a country that has offered Qaddafi political asylum.
Though the offer for political asylum came from Burkina Faso two weeks ago, the country has recognized the new Libyan Transitional Council as the legitimate governing force of the country. Burkina Faso was the recipient of Qaddafi largess, and is also a signatory to the International Criminal Court. The ICC has already issued an arrest warrant for Qaddafi and his son on charges of crimes against humanity.

French planes dropped loads of small arms south of Tripoli in their continued assistance of rebel forces in their battles against pro-Qaddafi regime fighters. Despite three months of continued NATO strikes, the conflict appears to have stalled in and around the city of Bani Walid. On Wednesday, for the first time, France admitted having delivered weapons to the to rebels in the region of Djebel Nafoussa, widely seen as a desire to hasten the end of the conflict.
In a parallel move, the political arm of the rebellion, the National Transitional Council, just received the first US$100 million as part of a special fund supported by Libya's frozen assets, which will be used to pay salaries and purchase fuel among other necessities.
Finding himself on the defensive, President Barack Obama stated that the U.S. mission in Libya remained 'limited', and suggested that the congressional debate on the constitutionality of his decision to enter the conflict was motivated by political grandstanding.

Muammar Qaddafi is still giving speeches, but is anyone listening? While part of his family has turned up in Algeria, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has given a clear message to Qaddafi himself that he is not welcome in Algeria. Leaders of the National Transitional Council as well as members of the rebellion movement believe that Qaddafi is now in Bani Walid where he is being protected by tribal leaders.
On Saturday, Qaddafi's spokesman, Moussa Ibrahim indicated that one of the largest tribes of Libya is located in the city and has pledged its full allegiance to Qaddafi. He denied any allegation that the city was about to surrender to its 'enemies'. The NTC had afforded the opposition another week to come to an agreement in order to avoid further bloodshed, but it seems that the fighting forces do not want to wait any longer. Bani Walid lies about 100 miles southeast of Tripoli.

There has been a plot to have assassinate Libya's Muammar Qaddafi as admitted by globalist insider David Rothkopf in his book "Superclass" (Preface xix). Here's the excerpt from the book:
"While at International Media Partners (IMP) we also created CEO Institutes, which ran events on global themes for the chief executives of big companies. Some of these business leaders were chillingly deal oriented, as I saw at a dinner one night when I was seated between the CEO of a leading aircraft manufacturer and Representative Pat Schroeder, then the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee. The CEO leaned across me to speak to Representative Schroeder.
“Here’s the deal,” he said. “I want to sell a plane to Muammar Qaddafi and he wants to buy one. But we have sanctions in place that won’t let me sell to him. The U.S. wants this guy dead. So what I’m thinking is, if you help me get the okay to sell him the plane, I’ll build it with explosive bolts connecting the wings to the fuselage. Then, one day he’s up flying over the Med and we push a button. He’s gone. I make my sale. Everyone’s happy."
***
The reason for the invasion of Libya was obviously not for humanitaraian reasons, but the public, and particularly supporters of President Obama have bought this weak pretext for war hook, line and sinker just as Bush supporters bought the phony WMD pretext to invade Iraq.
The corporate takeover of Libya has obviously been long in the making as wars are not easy to organize overnight. Rothkopf alleges the possibility of a quasi-extrajudicial killing of Muammar Qaddafi, the fallen leader of soon-to-be-occupied Libya, which by my guess is a conversation would have had to have taken place in the early to mid 1970's. Any takers on which company it was whose CEO actually proposed this vile, criminal conspiracy? It seems that the plan has always been that the United States would assassinate Qaddafi someday, and for what?
Those who aren’t afraid of a little research are coming to the conclusion that he is not quite the “evil-doer” that the mainstream media has portrayed him to be over the years. While it may be hard for one to argue that any world leader is a necessarily a “good guy,” I’d be willing to put Qaddafi’s accomplishments next to that of Mr. Obama, George W. Bush or any other stooge that has acted as president of the United States any day.p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZli7p7AVPQ

There is no dearth of news regarding Libya, the rebels, the National Transitional Council, Qaddafi’s whereabouts, his recent desire to negotiate, the rumors about him and his family having crossed into Algeria, NATO’s overstepping the boundaries of its initial mandate, and the final push of rebel forces to capture Syrte, Qaddafi’s hometown.
On the other side of the Atlantic, they are calling Libya Sarkozy’s war. Surprised? Post World War II, Libya came under French and British control as a UN Trusteeship, with Italy relinquishing its decades old reign. Sarkozy was so intent on getting it ‘right’ in Libya that he became a dedicated student of the country: after all, he was the one to initiate the armed intervention. He learned the names of all the cities that were key for capture, - memorized the map showing the routes leading to the capital of Tripoli. He learned the importance of Brega and Misrata as front lines in the offensive. There is no dearth of news regarding Libya, the rebels, the National Transitional... more

Many of the dead are black Africans. It appears that they did not die in combat, as they are being shown with hands tied behind their backs, or with handcuffs. Rebel fighters are proudly displaying them to TV journalists, designating them as mercenaries from Chad, Ghana, Mali or Niger ‘imported’ by Qaddafi equipped with guns, designed to kill government opposition rebels.
The horrors began to emerge, despite careful media manipulation, right after Qaddafi’s compound of Bab al-Aziziya was stormed by rebel fighters. Aside from the expected looting and souvenir hauling by rebel fighters, dead bodies were seen strewn across the vast grassy expanses of the compound. At first, rebel fighters alleged they were killed by government loyalists, however, this statement was negated by a resident of the area. He was told to remain silent by one of the rebels.

Yesterday, I published an appeal which was sent to me as well as other subscribers to the news organization, Voltaire, which was being widely circulated, and which stated that two of its collaborators in Libya's Rixos hotel had been threatened with death. The Rixos Hotel is where most foreign journalists 'hang out' , but have been unable to exit the hotel due to heavy combat in and around the area.
We also were misinformed when we were told that Qaddafi's sons had been captured and then released. It appears now, 24 hours after some premature celebration of Saif al-Islam's so called capture, that he is alive and well and that Qaddafi's forces still hold pockets of the capital. However, one fact remains: no one can ascertain the colonel's whereabouts.
As of this writing, we have seen rebel forces enter and occupy Qaddafi's Bab al-Aziziya military compound, a residence/fortress that comprises no less than 20 miles of underground tunnels leading to various parts of the city. It is likely that one of these tunnels would lead to the Rixos Hotel, which, at times, has served as an informal command or communications center, with state-run TV broadcasting from its studio there or members of the Qaddafi family occasionally holing up.

On Monday evening, Qaddafi's son Saif al Islam was seen on Tripoli streets, shaking hands of supporters and smiling. This is in contradiction to reports yesterday, whereby the head of the Libyan Transitional Council had confirmed that Saif was under house arrest, pending transfer to the Hague on charges of crimes against humanity.
Interestingly, Said was also heard speaking to cameras for al-Jazeera: he announced that everything was really 'fine' and that he was going on a tour of the country very shortly. He also said that NATO had been jamming all of their communications, and spreading 'rumors' about his arrest, and his brother's surrender. He said that his loyalists were still going to go after the 'rats'.
According to another report from Reuters, Saif also assured onlookers that his father was safe and in Tripoli.

The scene was familiar: masses of people in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, in sheer hysteria, waving flags, shooting in the air, all as part of a celebration. A version of Tahrir Square as it looked on February 14th, 2011 when former president Hosni Mubarak officially stepped down from power. The euphoria was accompanied by cheers at the news that Qaddafi's son, Saif al Islam, had been captured, and that another son, Mohammed, had surrendered to rebel forces. There was no footage to support these claims, though al-Jazeera reported this evening that Mohammed Qaddafi had been talking to their Arabic channel, stating that he was held under house arrest.
It is not only celebration time in Tripoli, but in Benghazi as well, in Freedom Square, one could hear shots in the air, whistles, people chanting and waving the tricolor Libyan flag. Is it premature? It is hard to tell, since there have been no further messages from Colonel Qaddafi.

Chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno-Ocampo has announced that he plans to recommend that ICC pre-trial judges issue arrest warrants against Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam and Libya’s head of intelligence, Abdullah Al Senussi.
Ocampo told the United Nations Security Council on May 5th, 2011 that the warrants sought are for crimes against humanity. This came about as a result of pressure from France and the UK, with the tacit backing of the United States, exerted in February on the UN to conduct an investigation. Charges are expected to include murder, unlawful detention, the use of cluster bombs and employing rape as a weapon of war. Additionally, a list of 88 names has been prepared by the opposition of Libyan officials which should appear on the Security Council Resolution 1970 sanctions list.

TRIPOLI, Libya — Aisha el-Qaddafi, the daughter of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi of Libya, likes to tell her three young children bedtime stories about the afterlife. Now, she says, they are especially appropriate.
“To make them ready,” she said, “because in a time of war you never know when a rocket or a bomb might hit you, and that will be the end.”
In a rare interview at her charitable foundation here, Ms. Qaddafi, 36, a Libyan-trained lawyer who once worked on Saddam Hussein’s legal defense team, offered a glimpse into the fatalistic mindset of the increasingly isolated family at the core of the battle for Libya, the bloodiest arena in the democratic uprising that is sweeping the region.
She dismissed the rebels as “terrorists” but suggested that some former Qaddafi officials who are now in the opposition’s governing council still “keep in touch with us.” She pleaded for dialogue and talked about democratic reforms. But she dismissed the rebels as unfit for such talks because of their use of violence, hurled personal barbs at President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and, at one point, appeared to disparage the basic idea of electoral democracy.
After arranging the interview last week, Ms. Qaddafi spoke for more than an hour late Sunday afternoon, just hours before NATO escalated its airstrikes with an attack that disrupted state television and another on the Libyan leader’s compound in Tripoli. One of the many unofficial and sometimes rivalrous Qaddafi family power brokers who dominate Libya’s economic and political life, she said the crisis had pulled the family together “like one hand.”
