HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER'S Johnny !
---
---Here’s Johnny enters the surreal world of renowned graphic artist Johnny Hicklenton, who is battling against Multiple Sclerosis. Living in an increasing state of immobility and frustration, Johnny escapes the confines of his frontroom through his artwork.
Through the expression of his brilliant and sometimes troubled imagination we learn about the disease that he cannot escape from.
---Launched at the Science Museum on January 30th 2008, and premiering at South by South West film festival in March 2008, Here's Johnny went on to win two prestigious Grierson Awards in November 2008. Winning both the 'Best Arts Documentary' and 'Best Newcomer' awards, Here's Johnny is the first film ever to win two awards in the Griersons' 36 year history.

Fecal Face -
John John Jesse was one of the first artists in this movement whose work I fell madly in love with when I first saw a piece of his at a fateful group show at Fuse gallery in NYC in 2005. I clearly remember being taken by his brazen subject matter and delicate, detailed, colorful technique. The skin and expressions of his female figures have a glow and tough fragility about them rarely seen in others work. Even the antique convex frame it was in was beautiful. Since then John John's work has been in galleries across the country, published in countless art books, screaming the songs of youth and its glorious turmoil. Adam Wallacavage and I had a chance to catch up and visit with him at his new home in New Hope P.A. while his new work is up this month at Opera Gallery in NYC through the 29th.

Nikki Farquharson is a 24 year old freelancer based in London, England. Her work includes a unique mixture of collage, photography, typography and bold color combinations and patterns.
Farquharson has a passion for communication. Apart from her visual work, she also has other projects like creating books about language and playing with the meaning of words and proverbs. She also runs an online public participatory site at: www.randomgotbeautiful.com that she started while she was still at university and that is open for anyone to submit images focused on a specific colour.
Farquharson usually draws and colours intricate patterns by hand using pencils, fine liner pens and felt tips. Some times she integrates photographs in her compositions. Most of the time she uses the collage technique to copy and paste the imagery (like the Mixed Media Girls project), but other times she adds them using a computer program (like the Baby Girl project for Missbehave Magazine).
