Crush! Frag! Destroy!'s Scott Thompson relives memories of his childhood in a recent revival of a forgotten platforming gem - Konami's Rocket Knight:
"Have you ever looked back at your childhood video game collection and thought: “Where the hell did I get that game from?” That one random game with no connection to any of your favorite series. Was it a gift from an estranged relative? Did you buy it with birthday money based solely on the box art? Perhaps a friend loaned it to you before moving to eastern Europe? There is no end to the possible explanations for its manifestation.
"Rocket Knight Adventures was that kind of game for me; an apparition with no discernible source. Despite this, I played Adventures quite a bit throughout my formative years and it remains a game I bring up when discussing favorite hidden gems of that 16-bit era."

Sparkster is a jet pack wearing opossum equipped with a sword. The knightly rodent made his debut in Rocket Knight Adventures for the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis in 1993. After the inevitable sequel (and spin-off), Sparkster mysteriously vanished.

(Soundtrack Spotlight is a weekly CFD! feature devoted to all things VGM. Every week we celebrate the best in-game music, highlight new releases and forgotten tracks, and bring you the best in auditory awesomeness.)
It’s not always easy to decide what to put into the spotlight each week; so far, I’ve been keeping the selections fairly topical.
No such qualms this week. This time, we’re taking a hard turn off of the beaten path into the harsh wastelands of the Fallout series.

Games! They are a thing which exists and this week sees more of them rolling into stores near you. “What games?”, I hear you ask. Well, how about a couple of sequels and one other that may just as well be?
Lost Planet 2 lets you return to the world of E.D.N. III and shoot more glowing monster butt, but this time with friends! Meanwhile, Skate 3 adds another entry to EA’s realistic skateboarding franchise. And then let’s not forget about 3D Dot Game Heroes, which seems like the parallel-world sequel that never came to a certain gold-cartridged 8-bit classic.
Feel free to hit the link and peruse the rest of this week’s list...
