The regional elections in Italy are approaching and the scandal of civil protection is not small stuff. Entrepreneurs who profit from natural disasters with the complicity of those who award contracts for reconstruction. In countries with free press and civil conscience such facts may lead to the immediate resignation of an entire government. In Italy we don't have anything like that and then we see just a mock election announcement by the premier.

Berlusconi goes delirious at the Congress of the European People's Party and nobody replies because basically the European right admire and envy him. Nobody like him has managed to achieve such power, so as to survive in any scandal, keeping up just the illusion of democracy, thanks to the propaganda on television, an inspiring example for the world of dictators. Italian judges prosecuting him are communist, his refrain is always the same.

The italian judiciary froze Casalesi mobsters assets for 120 million euros. It's the only good news among many other negative. Indeed, while police and magistrates do their work against organized crime, amid a thousand difficulties, Italian politicians seek new systems to help the mafia. Beyond just the unappropriate idea to auction Mafia seized goods, which would allow mobsters to repurchase them, the italian House has denied the request for the arrest of Nicola Cosentino.

Whose side are the two major Italian parties, the PDL (Berlusconi's party) and the PD (Democratic party)? On the side of police officers and judges who risk their lives every day to fight the Mafia or on the side of mobsters? The doubt is more than legitimate given the number of politicians of these parties, local and otherwise, who ended up involved in several Mafia investigations. Dell'Utri and Cosentino are obviously the best known at this time regarding the PDL.
