A radical Islamist group that planned a march through Wootton Bassett will be banned under counter-terrorism laws, Home Secretary Alan Johnson has said.
Islam4UK had planned the protest at the Wiltshire town to honour Muslims killed in the Afghanistan conflict.
The government had been considering outlawing the group - Islam4UK is also known as al-Muhajiroun.
A spokesman for Islam4UK told the BBC it was an "ideological and political organisation", and not a violent one.
Mr Johnson said: "I have today laid an order which will proscribe al-Muhajiroun, Islam4UK, and a number of the other names the organisation goes by.A radical Islamist group that planned a march through Wootton Bassett will be banned... more

After Gordon Brown said he was 'completely disgusted' at the 'abhorrent' protest march planned in Wootton Bassett by a radical Islamic group, home secretary Alan Johnson is expected to ban it from taking place.
500 members of the radical group Islam4UK planned to parade through the Wiltshire market town with empty coffins to symbolise the Muslims 'mercilessly murdered' in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The idea that anyone would stage this kind of demonstration in Wootton Bassett fills me with revulsion,' said the Home Secretary.
'I find it particularly offensive that the town which has acted in such a moving and dignified way in paying tribute to our troops who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country should be targeted in this manner.
'Those behind this stunt seek only to incite hatred and discord.'
Three Facebook groups opposing the march have drawn more than half a million supporters.
