Police say three men committed an armed robbery at a Taco Bell in Charlotte, N.C. last Monday. But they didn’t come for cash–they wanted empanadas.
According to reports, three males in a vehicle pulled up to the drive-thru window and one pointed gun at the clerk and demanded food. They were given a bag full of the fast food restaurant’s snack: caramel apple empanadas.
What, no love for the ice cream Choco-Tacos?
The suspects are still at large. No one was harmed in the robbery.

Rap music fans were duped by a poorly executed ticket scam that promised a concert with headliners Young Jeezy, Gucci Man and Trick Daddy at a Tampa nightclub on Friday.
And despite obvious errors like “ADDMITT ONE” and irregular ticket shapes, countless buyers were swindled out of money.
According to reports, Antonio Miller, 36, recruited Shanise McCray, 21, and Tabitha Barnes, 19, to form a street team and sell tickets as high as $45 for “VIP” and $10-15 for general admission to the phony concert. Investigators are unsure how many people bought the tickets, but say they were sold from several Tampa Bay area locations–including the Hillsborough Community College campus.
Calls made from ticket holders to the listed concert venue, Club Nouveau, prompted management to call the authorities. An undercover investigation in cooperation with the police department led to the arrests of the ticket peddlers.

Shocking video footage from the UK reveals a car stuck to the bumper of a truck, barreling along a highway at 60MPH as the trucker remains unaware of the freak accident.
Rona Williams, 31, says she didn’t even see it coming. “I just felt a knock and then I was traveling sideways–twisted 90 degrees clockwise,” she told The Sun. “I tried everything. I was watching other cars thinking ‘help me’. But they didn’t seem to be doing very much.” She says she tried flashing her lights and beeping the horn, but nothing got the driver’s attention. She even used her cell phone to call the authorities, but they offered no help.
Incredibly, it took the oblivious trucker nearly a minute to see the car–and he was able to safely stop both vehicles. He has since been terminated and police are now investigating the incident.

Florida police say a furious 80-year-old man used a garden hoe to destroy his neighbor’s front door “beyond repair” because he thought they stole his cookies.
Gene Edward Chambers, a retiree, was approached by authorities and seen holding a garden hoe “raised above his head” in front of a home after frightened residents called police on Sunday.
“He went to the residence and knocked on the door,” a report states. “When they didn’t answer, he started hitting the door with the garden hoe.”
Chambers told police that his neighbors broke into his home during the night and stole seven boxes of Little Debbie Oatmeal cookies.
A deputy searched Chambers’ home for signs of theft and found five boxes of the cookies in his cabinet, and a receipt from the previous day that proved he purchased only five of the snacks from Wal-Mart. “Chambers was mistaken thinking he had bought seven boxes,” according to a deputy‘s report.

Police say an Iowa woman was so furious during a dispute that she removed the lid of a toilet tank and beat her sister with it.
Nitasha Camilla Johnson, 20, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, and interference with official acts after the violent attack on Sunday. Johnson had been living with her sister and sister’s husband for the past two months.
Police said they found the sister lying on the floor bleeding, and suffered an injury to her foot and finger.
Johnson remains in jail on a $1,500 bond.

A UK man lost all of his teeth at the age of 22 because of his heavy drinking, which included 24 cans of beer a day.
Nicky Welfare, who ironically enough, lives off of public assistance–on unemployment compensation of nearly $91 weekly–was able to get free dentures paid for by tax payers.
He may not have any teeth, but I’d still hit it! Hey, no teeth? You thinking what I’m thinking? He could land lucrative work really fast if he takes notes from HBO’s Hookers on the Strip. NO TEETH is a great marketing tool! There’s no reason for someone that good looking to go hungry or thirsty.
His lack of teeth and winning drinking habits were used as a defense during a court hearing yesterday as he faced charges on driving while banned. A difficult Bridezilla-tempered customer at a bridal shop started a brawl after she called in her male family members to attack the business owner who refused to work with her because she was a nightmare, reports Fox 2 News Detroit.
Shocking video footage from security cameras at at The First Lady Bridal Shop in Detroit captured the melee that caused nearly $20,000 in damage on Monday. According to reports, the unsatisfied bride called in her family members to attack. Three men can be seen storming the store and one man launches the store owner 40 feet into a showcase, then tackles him to the ground. Another man grabs the owner’s wife and spits at her, then slaps her in the face. The owner’s son was beaten to the ground. Undaunted, the fighting continued and the suspects picked up mannequins and used them as weapons.
The three suspects were arrested and have been released on bond. They believe they were victims and not at fault.
A trial will begin April 7.

A German woman’s concern that a suspicious noise in her apartment was an intruder, turned out to be her vibrator–and she was mortified when police dispatched to her home made the discovery.
According to reports, the noise was so loud that the emergency line operator was able to hear it over the phone, and police were sent to her home to investigate the matter.
A police statement said: ‘Daringly, and with the occupier’s permission, one of the officers opened the drawer of a wardrobe where the noise was coming from.

A Kansas man was beaten by his drug dealer after he discovered he duped him out of several hundred dollars worth of crack cocaine using Monopoly money, police say.
According to reports, Wichita, Kansas police stopped a man for a traffic violation on Thursday evening, only to find the 33-year-old victim bleeding from the head. But his explanation for the injury was a bizarre tale.
The victim told police that weeks earlier he purchased several hundred dollars of crack cocaine with Monopoly money, and the dealer attacked him as retribution.
“The man from whom he had bought the drugs was upset and invited him over to his house and upon arrival struck him in the head several times with a handgun and other people jumped into the fray,” said Gordon Bassham with the Wichita Police Department.
The victim escaped without serious injury, but police say he’s uncooperative in helping them apprehend the suspect.

A Florida woman caused a car crash as she shaved her bikini area while a passenger held the wheel on Tuesday.
Megan Barnes, 37, told police she wanted to “be ready” to meet her boyfriend on her way to Key West.
“If I wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have believed it,” trooper Gary Dunick said. “About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot … who had three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, ‘Nothing will ever beat this.’ Well, this takes it.”
Only a day earlier, Barnes was convicted of DUI with a prior and driving with a suspended license, according to reports. Under the court order, her driver’s license was revoked for five years, after which time she would have been required to have a Breathalyzer ignition on any vehicle she drives. She was also sentenced to nine months’ probation.
Two people in the struck vehicle were treated for minor injuries; Barnes could face up to a year in prison.

Police say a South Korean couple became so addicted to raising a virtual daughter in an Internet game that they let their own child starve to death.
According to reports, Kim Yoo-chul, 41, and mother Choi Mi-sun, 25, would go out on 12-hour long binges at Internet cafes to play the popular virtual-world game PRIUS, and would leave their 3-month-old daughter at home.
The popular game that distracted them from their real-life parenting duties allowed users to choose a job, interact with others in the virtual world and earn an extra avatar to nurture once they reach a certain level.
In September, after returning home from a 12-hour gaming bender, they found their child dead–but authorities said the appearance of the child raised suspicion that neglect was the cause.
They were arrested yesterday on child abuse and neglect charges after an autopsy revealed their daughter’s death was caused by dehydration and malnutrition.
The couple met in 2008 through an online game.

A randy German couple brought traffic to a halt when the twosome stepped outside their car and began having sex in the middle of a busy street.

A drunk Tennessee mother was arrested after she armed herself with a sword and stormed an elementary school, looking to speak to the parents of a child who spit on her daughter. The parents of the child weren’t there, so she threatened to cut a staff member instead.
Toni Price, 32, was said to be furious that her second-grade daughter Aaliyah was spit on by another student. “She said she went up there to talk to the girl’s parents,” said Price’s mother. “But the girl’s parents wasn’t there.”
After drinking a 40 oz Colt 45 malt liquor, Price entered the school wielding a sword concealed as a walking stick. An employee called police and said that a drunk woman was roaming the halls with a sword and had threatened to cut her.
Price’s mother told reporters she believes her daughter had no plan to hurt anyone and the sword was used as protection from neighborhood pit bulls.
She’s charged with aggravated assault and for having a weapon on school property. Her bond is set at $4500.

A Calif. woman’s size-D cup breast implant saved her life, after it deflected a bullet shot to her chest.
According to reports, Lydia Carranza was working at the front desk of a Simi Valley dental office on July 1 when her co-worker’s husband stormed the office and he shot his wife dead. He was furious that she asked him for a divorce. Next, he pointed his semiautomatic assault rifle at Carranza–who was a few feet away–and shot her in the arm. Unsatisfied, he aimed again and shot her a second time point blank at her heart. Her plastic surgeon says the bullet was stopped by her saline implant.
Carranza told the LA Times it was “worse than a scary movie.” She survived the harrowing ordeal, but the bullet left a scar and deflated the implant. And now she plants to undergo reconstructive surgery.
“She’s just one lucky woman,” Dr. Ashkan Ghavami said. “I saw the CT scan. The bullet fragments were millimeters from her heart and her vital organs. Had she not had the implant, she might not be alive today.” Dr. Ghavami plans to perform the surgery at a reduced cost and wants implant companies to donate supplies.
The gunman awaits trial and is being held without bail on numerous counts including murder and premeditated attempted murder.

Authorities were horrified to learn that a Thai monk and accomplices skinned more than 200 domesticated dogs, cats and cows, then painted them with tiger stripes to dupe faith seekers into buying the false holy charms.
According to reports, officials from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation raided the temple on February 12 on a tip from suspicious locals, and they seized 204 animal skins, including a crocodile skin, leopard skin and five other cat species. The remaining skins–which were believed to be tigers–were actually hundreds of domesticated dogs, cats and cows painted to resemble tigers.
Monks confessed to police that the temple abbot had planned to tattoo the pelts with religious writings, then pass them off as real tiger skins to sell as religious charms.
A director for the Department of National Parks told reporters, “I want to warn people who like to buy religious items made from animal remains that this is not just illegal; they can also be conned. For example in this case they weren’t tiger skins, but dog and cow skins – if you worship them they will not bring good fortune. They are a cause of animal cruelty as well,”
He added that the demand for tiger body parts in the 2010 zodiac Year of the Tiger will heighten illegal activity to satisfy desperate buyers.

Florida authorities are mortified after admitting to erroneously putting a 78-year-old grandmother with dementia in jail for two weeks for a minor traffic violation that she didn’t even commit.
According to reports, Gabrielle Schaink was issued a mandatory court appointment after being cited for drinking 5 MPH on a highway with a suspended license. Deputies arrived at her mobile home on an arrest warrant, handcuffed her, and brought her to jail after she missed the appointment.
“They should’ve helped her–because I was in the police for many years,” a neighbor told a reporter for WSVN news. “That’s the first time I’ve seen something like that.”
Gabrielle was previously diagnosed with dementia, but authorities did not notice. They also failed to notice that her license had, in fact, been reinstated at that time.
During court proceedings, video footage shows the judge issued a bond for $2,000 to the frail, elderly woman without even looking at her. And she was also overlooked by two public defenders in the courtroom. Incredibly, paperwork revealed that Broward County Sheriff’s office recommended to public defenders that she be released.
Confused and helpless, Gabrielle was forced to spend nearly two weeks in jail because she couldn’t pay the bond. “It was nothing. Just a place to live like any other place. Have a nice day. Goodbye,” Gabrielle Schaink told a reporter.
