“A Christmas Story: The Leg Lamp” is a very humorous nine-minute short film, part of the 1983 comedy movie “A Christmas Story” directed by Bob Clark.The film has since become a holiday classic and has been shown numerous times on television during the Christmas season.The movie is based on a nostalgic comic novel named “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash,” by Jean Shepherd, the radio humorist, who also narrates it. Shepherd remembers the obvious things, like fights with the bullies at school, and getting into impenetrable discussions with younger kids who do not quite know what all the words mean. He remembers legendary schoolteachers and hiding in the cupboard under the sink and having fantasies of defending the family home with a BB gun.
But he also remembers, warmly and with love, the foibles of parents. The old man in “A Christmas Story” is not an enthusiast of anything, just simply an enthusiast. In “The Leg Lamp,” old Mr. Parker wins A Major Award after entering a trivia contest out of the newspaper, which asked for the name of The Lone Ranger’s nephew’s horse (thanks to his wife, who supplied the correct answer: Victor). A large crate arrives and inside is a lamp that’s shaped like a woman’s very sexy leg wearing a garter and fishnet stockings, much to Mrs. Parker’s displeasure. He insists on displaying it in the living-room front window, because it is the most amazing lamp he has ever seen. Of course, his wife is mortified beyond words!

“The Night Before Christmas” was originally a 1968 animated television special, with background music provided by the Norman Luboff Choir. It was regularly shown for about 10 years as a holiday special, but it has since disappeared from television. The classic holiday cartoon tells the heartwarming true story of how Clement C. Moore came to write the Christmas poem beloved by generations of children, and includes a joyous retelling of the charming “A Visit from St. Nicholas.”
In the film, Clement Moore goes on a short trip just before Christmas to give a series of lectures at a university, and he promises to get his daughter Charity a storybook about Santa Claus for Christmas while he is away. Charity develops pneumonia while he’s gone, and the doctor says she might not survive. When Clement arrives back home, he’s distraught to see that his beloved daughter is near death. Making things even worse, he hadn’t found any books about Santa Claus when he went shopping, and even through her fever she’s asking for one. Feeling that he has broken his promise, he decides to write a story of his own and read it to her; it is the story which became “A Visit from St. Nicholas.”

“The Madagascar Penguins: A Christmas Caper” is a wickedly funny computer-animated 12-minute short film that showcases the adventures of four penguins, known as the Madagascar Penguins, who live in the Central Park Zoo and are trained as spies.
In the story, the youngest penguin on the team slips out of the zoo on Christmas Eve to find a present for a lonely polar bear. While roaming the streets of Manhattan, he is captured by an old lady, who purchases him as a chew toy for her vicious poodle. The other three penguins rescue the little one from the old lady’s apartment before it is too late. They have an intense fight against the evil poodle, and when they’re done, they blow the apartment’s door up with dynamite and leave the vicious poodle to take the blame for what the penguins have done.
