BDC: BBC Burmese, Sham Constitution & Planned Sham 2010 Election
2nd September 2010 is the 70th Anniversary of BBC Burmese Service Broadcasting and Burma Democratic Concern (BDC)'s Director Myo Thein shares the knowledge of Burma crisis and congratulate the BBC Burmese service for its dedicated neutral, impartial and up to the last mintue reporting.
Myo Thein said "As the democratic activist who value and respect democratic principles, I agree to disagree. I also value the media's impartiality since in Burma current military regime as well as its pre-successor use the media as the propaganda tools. So for us we have to rely on independent media like BBC Burmese to have the reliable information".
Regarding about the junta planned 2010 election Myo Thein said "There will be no single democratic genuine change coming out from junta's planned 2010 election. Before we possibly address the 2010 election, we have to look at the 2008 constitution which is adopted and drafted unilaterally by the junta which designed to cement military rule forever in Burma which took 14 years long to draft it. If we look at the referendum, adopting process, they do it unilaterally even in the mist of the cyclone Nargis. When we look at the constitution itself, that constitution is designed to legitimise military rule in Burma. If we look at the constitution 25% of the parliament seats are reserves for the military personnels, addition, the president must have the military background as well as the president can dissolve the parliament at any time holding the absolute authority. If we look at the constitution it is designed to cement military rule forever in Burma. So we need to declare that constitution as NULL & VOID by the UNSC."
regarding about hope for the Burma future, Myo Thein said that "It is all down to both parties, I mean Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led Democratic Forces and Military Regime. There is always the door is open for the national reconciliation in Burma. Even recently Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said she also hope for the national reconciliation. So if we truly wanted to see the national reconciliation in Burma, the International Community also find out the way to facilitate the national reconciliation process a success".

Burma-Global Political Situation Reality (PLAY) : Once Upon A Time In Burma !
The play, "Once upon a time in Burma" is performed by Burmese youths on the occasion of 20th Anniversary of 1990 Election Victory in Burma which reflects the current Burma-Global Political Situation.
Main Message of the Play
* Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is the legitimate elected leader of Burma
* 1990 election result will still valid until elected members of the parliament can found the government
* Gen. Than Shwe is putting all the people in the prison state
* People are dying, people are starving and people are longing for democracy
* Than Shwe is saying NO to whatever people want
* China agrees with whatever Than Shwe is doing
* US, UK, EU, & UN are impotence with junta
* People of Burma say unanimously junta planned sham election "NO"
Let's work together to show our solidarity with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led legitimate leaders of Burma.
Let's BOYCOTT junta planned sham 2010 election!
Let's REJECT junta planned sham 2010 election and its results!
Background Information
On 27 May 1990, people of Burma voted for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as their leader in general election. Instead of honouring the election result, junta put Daw Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest and suppressing on the dissidents intensified.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi once said that: "The results of these elections will remain valid until such time as the Members of Parliament elected in 1990 by the people have had a chance to get together and decide what the next step is going to be. The world has to make certain that the outcome of these elections is honoured".
Junta fails to implement 1990 election result until today and unilaterally adopted 2008 constitution to entrench military rule in Burma. The essence of planning to hold election in 2010 is "to nullify 1990 election results, to legitimise military rule in Burma and to exclude Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and political activists in the Burma political process". There is no room for genuine democratic change in Burma due to junta's planned 2010 election so that all the justice loving countries should stand together with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led legitimate leaders.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi again stressed the importance of implementing 1990 election results by saying "If this country is to achieve genuine democracy, the result of the elections of 1990 must be recognized. It must be recognized by the military regime, as it has been recognized by the people, and by the world at large. It is through this recognition that we will be able to make genuine progress in Burma. The results of the 1990 General Elections must be implemented is a resolution already taken by the United Nations. We already know that the General Assembly of the United Nations has accepted the notion that the will of the people has been expressed in the 1990 General Elections. This is something we cannot abandon. It will be to the detriment of our country if after an election has been held the results are not honoured and we do not resist attempts to trivialise it".
This is what our legitimate leaders wanted us to do. We truly believe that we all must work implementing what our legitimate leaders are guiding us to do and it is the duty of all the groups working for democratisation of Burma.
Let's work together to show our solidarity with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led legitimate leaders of Burma.

Burma's Legitimate Leader Aung San Suu Kyi: Use Your Liberty to Promote Ours

Burma: International Community Must Be Informed
Burma: International Community Must Be Informed
06 April 2010
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) today calls for the international community to stand by with the oppressed people of Burma.
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) wholeheartedly welcomes Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD)’s unanimous decision on 29 March 2010, not to re-register to contest junta’s planned sham 2010 election game plan which will be legitimizing military rule in Burma.
The very military regime held the election in 1990 pledging that they will transfer the power to the election wining party. Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) won landslide victory.
The junta’s Law No.14/89, "Pyithu Hluttaw Election Law," states clearly in Chapter 3 Section 3 that the "Hluttaw (Assembly) shall be formed with the Hluttaw representatives who have been elected.
Instead of honouring 1990 election result, junta put Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest and suppressing on the dissidents intensified. During their reign of terror, people of Burma are suffering tremendously. Junta never hesitate to use brutal force to repress anyone who opposes their illegitimate rule.
Aung San Suu Kyi officially once said that “That the results of the 1990 General Elections must be implemented is a resolution already taken by the United Nations. We already know that the General Assembly of the United Nations has accepted the notion that the will of the people has been expressed in the 1990 General Elections. This is something we cannot abandon. It will be to the detriment of our country if after an election has been held the results are not honoured and we do not resist attempts to trivialise it”.
Aung San Suu Kyi reaffirmed again the importance of implementing 1990 election result and the necessary practical action taken by international community by saying "Since 1992, the United Nations General Assembly has been passing resolutions on the human rights situation in Burma. But resolutions are not enough. Resolutions should be implemented. We think it is time that the international community took a greater interest in getting the terms of the resolutions implemented".
What is the purpose United Nations standing for if it cannot take effective action decisively rather than playing into junta’s hands? We don’t want to see UNSC action being disabled due to the China or Russia governments (possible) use of veto whenever Burma crisis is on the table. Now people are finding ways to by-pass China or Russia governments’ blockage at the UNSC.
We believe that if international governments recognise the people’s leader as the legitimate government rather than junta, it will be effectively by-passing the UNSC as well as by-passing the China or Russia governments' possible use of veto at the UNSC since they cannot influence individual countries taking decisions independently.
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) would like to give clear message to the world leaders that:
1. National League for Democracy (NLD), unanimous victor of 1990 election, stands firmly on “Shew-Gone-Daing” Declaration of which all four main principals are equally important that needs to place in order to have true national reconciliation i.e. to release all political prisoners, to take place genuine dialogue, to revise 2008 constitution and to recognize 1990 election results.

3. All the oppressed people of Burma stand firmly on upholding the “Shwe-Gone-Daing” Declaration and unanimously follow the leadership of Aung San Suu Kyi.
4. Now, people around the world are calling for Aung San Suu Kyi led “Interim Government”.
5. Burmese people want the international governments to endorse “Aung San Suu Kyi led interim government” as the legitimate government of Burma if the one should be formed, which is effectively by-passing the possible use of veto by China or Russia at the UNSC.

Burma Demmocratic Concern (BDC): Stop China VETO to protect Burmese Criminal Generals
Our lives and rights are robbed by military regimes for half the century and this is the time that UNSC must take action practically. World leaders should be aware that they cannot ignore the injustices going on in Burma but also they have the responsibly to protect the oppressed people since it is the duty of all the mankind.
We would like to affirm here that Burma crisis is not the internal affair of one country but the affair of humanity and the affair of international community. We also want to express our perception that failure to take timely action on the perpetrators is tantamount to agree committing atrocities in Burma. We must take action decisively and collectively in order to intervene Burma crisis so as to avoid total devastating. Junta is fully geared up to extinguish democracy, human rights and rule of law in Burma. Junta is all doing this because international community fails to take action practically in the past. Our lives and rights are robbed by military regimes for half the century and this is... more-

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) calls for UNSC Emergency Meeting: Time to take immediate action
11 March 2010
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) calls for United Nations Security Council to convene emergency meeting since Burma crisis is in very critical situation. We must take action decisively and collectively in order to intervene Burma crisis so as to avoid total devastating.
Burmese junta is fully geared up to extinguish democracy, human rights and rule of law in Burma. Junta is touching its final brush to eliminate all the democratic voices by issuing its so-called the electoral law on 8 March 2010 which effectively turning their back on national reconciliation in Burma.
The so-called junta’s electoral law states that political parties are prohibited from having a prisoner as a party member; it means Aung San Suu Kyi or all the political prisoners cannot participate in the election. Addition, the junta announced that within 60 days from the announcement date, the final deadline will be on 7 May 2010; the current legal parties such as NLD have to register to take part in 2010 election which will legitimise military rule in Burma or face the cessation of to existing as legal party.
The dilemma is that if NLD wanted to hold the legal existence, they have to expel Aung San Suu Kyi as their leader or else face dissolving the party. If NLD agrees to register, it means they have to give up upholding the “Shwe-Gone-Daing” declaration that need to place in order to have true national reconciliation in Burma.
Junta is all doing this because international community fails to take action practically in the past. International community is misled by junta and fall into the regime’s lies for more than 20 years now.
We would like to give message to the world leaders that “To bring about justice realities in Burma, UNSC must take action practically. For many decades we have been scarifying thousands of lives to bring about justice realities in Burma. How many more lives need to die in order to take practical action on Burma. How many years more do we need to wait to take practical action on Burma?”
We call for United Nations Security Council to intervene in this very critical situation or else Burma will face turmoil. We would like to urge all the justice loving people around the world to call for United Nations Security Council to take practical action on Burma.
For more information please contact Myo Thein, the Director at the Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) on 00-44-78 7788 2386 or 00-44-20 8493 9137.
Must do UNSC actions on Burma:
1. UNSC must declare that it won’t recognize junta’s planned 2010 election and its results
2. UNSC must declare junta’s sham 2008 constitution as NULL and VOID
3. UNSC must implement the successive UN General Assembly Resolution on Burma calling for “to restore democracy and implement the results of the 1990 election”
4. UNSC must declare that it will recognise Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) as the legitimate Government of Burma mandated by people of Burma in 1990 general election
Background information:
• The very junta held the election in 1990 in which Aung San Suu Kyi led NLD party won the landslide victory. But, junta still ignores to honour the 1990 election results until now and again they are planning to hold election in 2010 to nullify 1990 election result as well as in order to legitimise military rule in Burma. Our legitimate leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, had foreseen regime’s cunning plans so that she had already expressed her views on what we must do regarding the importance of implementing 1990 election results.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said:
• The results of these elections will remain valid until such time as the Members of Parliament elected in 1990 by the people have had a chance to get together and decide what the next step is going to be. The world has to make certain that the outcome of these elections is honoured.
