The liberal media regularly tags conservative speech as hateful or extreme. They go ballistic when conservatives call federal spending ''socialist", or say gay marriage is "immoral". Liberals even whine about the word "Obamacare". When the liberals attack conservatives, it is different on two counts. First, their attacks are more direct and ugly. Second, it is perfectly okay to them because they are just trying to stop old, repressive ideas from gaining traction. Whatever...
I need to throw out a few Liberal quotes to you and ask you, have you ever heard anything this hateful from a conservative??
Liberal Mike Malloy in 2009 said: " I have good news to report; Glenn Beck appears ever closer to suicide. I am hoping that he does it on camera."
When Republican Sharon Angle ran against Harry Reid in Nevada, ABC's Joy Behar said, "Come here bitch! Come to New York and do it!" and gleefully added 'I'm telling you right now, she's going to Hell, this bitch!"
About Sarah Palin, all the liberal media went after her. On election night 2010, Chris Matthew's wondered if Sarah would look like "an imbecile" on Jeopardy: "does she know anything?"
In 2009, liberal radio host Montel Williams called on Representative Michelle Bachmann to, "slit her wrist and then advised a better thing, move that knife up about two feet. Start right at the collarbone".
The wonderful Keith Olberman describe the Tea Party as "a group of unqualified, unstable individuals who will do what they are told and march this nation as far back as they can get, backwards to Jim Crow, or backwards to the breadlines of the '30s, or backwards to hanging union organizers."
These are just a few quotes. Let's face it, the left are the mean, hateful people. Conservatives don't say these kind of things.
Since there are many more conservatives than liberals, and conservatives have so many guns, people often wonder why conservatives don’t just round up all the liberals and ship them to Antarctica to be forced to mine for jewels and gold. Well, there is a very good reason for that: by a strict constructionist interpretation of the American Constitution, there is no support for being able to deport liberals to a mining camp.
Now, if conservatives were a bit more flexible with their view of the Constitution, they would say things like, “Well, we have to remember it’s a living document, and the Founding Fathers hadn’t even thought of the threat of hippies running around free when they wrote it.” And then they’d look to the Commerce Clause and say, “Well, keeping liberals from meddling in America and forcing them do something useful like mining sure would help the economy, so it’s within the government’s power.” And then it’d just be a manner of scheduling all the boats to get liberals to Antarctica.
But that would violate the spirit of the Constitution since, by plain English interpretations of the government’s powers, we can’t forcefully ship liberals to Antarctica no matter how much people may think that would help the country. And that’s the point of the Constitution: people are constantly changing their ideas of what is good and bad, but the Constitution is much harder to change. It puts limits on what the government can do, and those limits can only be changed when huge majorities agree to it through the amendment process. And even after ObamaCare, there inexplicably isn’t enough support for a “Liberals Are to Be Sent to Mines in Antarctica” amendment.
After the hysterical way liberals reacted to the reading of the Constitution by Republicans to open Congress, with Democrats objecting to it, left-wing newspaper editorials denouncing it, and liberals online freaking out over it, no reasonable person would argue that liberals don’t hate the Constitution, but the reasons why aren’t as obvious. So the question becomes, why do liberals hate the Constitution so much — especially when it’s the only thing protecting them from freezing to death with pickaxes in their hands? http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/who-are-the-real-haters-conservatives-or-liberals-republicans-or-democrats/question-1613631/The liberal media regularly tags conservative speech as hateful or extreme. To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil. — Charles Krauthammer
Even liberals who've accomplished a lot in their lives and have high IQs often say things on a regular basis that are stunningly, profoundly stupid and at odds with the way the world works. Modern liberalism has become so bereft of common sense and instinctually suicidal that America can only survive over the long haul by thwarting the liberal agenda. In fact, liberalism has become such a toxic and poisonous philosophy that most liberals wouldn't behave differently if their goal were to deliberately destroy the country. So, how does liberalism cause well-meaning, intelligent liberals to get this way? Well, it starts with...
1) Liberalism creates a feedback loop. It is usually impossible for a non-liberal to change a liberal's mind about political issues because liberalism works like so: only liberals are credible sources of information. How do you know someone's liberal? He espouses liberal doctrine. So, no matter how plausible what you say may be, it will be ignored if you're not a liberal and if you are a liberal, of course, you probably agree with liberal views. This sort of close-mindedness makes liberals nearly impervious to any information that might undermine their beliefs.
2) Liberals sources of information are ever present. Conservatives are regularly exposed to the liberal viewpoint whether they want to be or not. That's not necessarily so for liberals. Imagine the average day for liberals. They get up and read their local newspaper. It has a liberal viewpoint. They take their kids to school, where the teachers are liberal. Then they go to work, listen to NPR which has a liberal viewpoint on the way home, and then turn on the nightly news which also skews leftward. From there, they turn on TV and watch shows created by liberals that lean to the left, if they have any political viewpoint at all. Unless liberals actively seek out conservative viewpoints, which is unlikely, the only conservative arguments they're probably going to hear are going to be through the heavily distorted, poorly translated, deeply skeptical lens of other liberals.
3) Liberals emphasize feeling superior, not superior results. Liberalism is all about appearances, not outcomes. What matters to liberals is how a program makes them FEEL about themselves, not whether it works or not. Thus a program like Headstart, which sounds good because it's designed to help children read, makes liberals feel good about themselves, even though the program doesn't work and wastes billions. A ban on DDT makes liberals feel good about themselves because they're "protecting the environment" even though millions of people have died as a result. For liberals, it's not what a program does in the real world; it's about whether they feel better about themselves for supporting it.
4) Liberals are big believers in moral relativism. This spins them round and round because if the only thing that's wrong is saying that there's an absolute moral code, then you lose your ability to tell cause from effect, good from bad, and right from wrong. Taking being non-judgmental to the level that liberals do leaves them paralyzed, pondering "why they hate us" because they feel incapable of saying, “That's wrong," and doing something about it. If you're against firm standards and condemning immoral behavior, then your moral compass won’t work and you’ll also be for immorality, as well as societal and cultural decay by default.
5) Liberals tend to view people as parts of groups, not individuals. One of the prejudices of liberalism is that they see everyone as part of a group, not as an individual. This can lead to rather bizarre disparities when say, a man from a group that they consider to be powerless, impoverished victims becomes the leader of the free world -- and he's challenged by a group of lower middle class white people who've banded together because individually they're powerless. If you listen to the liberal rhetoric, you might think Barack Obama was a black Republican being surrounded by a KKK lynching party 100 years ago -- as opposed to the single most powerful man in America abusing the authority of his office to attack ordinary Tea Partiers who have the audacity to speak the truth to power for the good of their country.
6) Liberals take a dim view of personal responsibility. Who's at fault if a criminal commits a crime? The criminal or society? If someone creates a business and becomes a millionaire, is that the result of hard work and talent or luck? If you're dirt poor, starving, and haven't worked in 5 years, is that a personal failing or a failure of the state? Conservatives would tend to say the former in each case, while liberals would tend to say the latter. But when you disconnect what an individual does from the results that happen in his life, it's very difficult to understand cause and effect in people's lives.
7) Liberals give themselves far too much credit just for being liberal. To many liberals, all one needs to do to be wise, intelligent, compassionate, open minded, and sensitive is to BE LIBERAL. In other words, many of the good things about a person spring not from his actions, but from the ideology he holds. This has an obvious appeal. You can be a diehard misogynist, but plausibly call yourself a feminist, hate blacks, but accuse others of racism, have a subpar IQ and be an intellectual, give nothing to charity and be compassionate, etc., etc., and all you have to do is call yourself a liberal. It's a shortcut to virtue much like the corrupt old idea of religious indulgences. Why live a life of virtue when you could live a sinful life and buy your way into heaven? If you're a liberal, why actually live a life of virtue when you can merely call yourself a liberal and get credit for being virtuous, even when you've done nothing to earn it? http://current.com/1gqvekcTo understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this... more

By then, though, "death panel" hysteria had spread to an even more contentious aspect of medical decision-making: which drugs the government should certify as safe and effective, and therefore likely to be covered by insurers. When the Food and Drug Administration recently said it plans to withdraw approval of the drug Avastin for treating breast cancer because trials showed it to be ineffective or dangerous for most patients, Sen. David Vitter and Rep. Rodney Alexander, both Louisiana Republicans, likened FDA to a "death panel." Hardly. Does anyone believe that leaving such decisions to politicians driven by desperate patients and drug-company lobbyists would yield better results?
To the extent that death panels of a sort do exist, they're composed of state officials who must decide whether each state's version of Medicaid will cover certain expensive, potentially life-saving treatments. In Indiana, the state refused to pay as much as $500,000 for a procedure for a six-month-old boy born without a thymus gland, which is essential to fighting infection. In Arizona, Gov. Jan Brewer decreed that the state's version of Medicaid would no longer pay for certain transplants. A 32-year-old man's liver transplant was stopped at the last minute because he suddenly had to find $200,000 to pay for it.By then, though, "death panel" hysteria had spread to an even more... more

A year after Haiti’s devastating earthquake, women in Haiti’s still-teeming tent cities face yet another threat: sexual violence. With little protection from community or law enforcement, many have been violently raped, only to become pregnant with their attackers’ children.
Photojournalist Nadav Neuhaus traveled through Haiti’s tent cities last summer, photographing and interviewing dozens of residents in the camps that still house more than 1 million people. During a visit to Camp La Piste, home to 50,000 displaced people, Neuhaus noticed an unusually high number of pregnant women. A community organizer and a local midwife confirmed his worries: Many of the women were pregnant as a result of rape.
They came to Camp La Piste after losing parents, brothers and husbands in the earthquake, leaving them to fend for themselves in the sprawling squalor, where roving gangs of armed men terrorize residents.
In a new report, Amnesty International documents the rise in sexual violence, including at least 250 rapes reported in the first few months after the earthquake.
Fueled in part by these sexual attacks, the birth rate in Haiti has tripled since the quake, climbing from 4 percent to 12 percent, according to population experts.
Most women told Neuhaus they don’t report the rapes, either out of shame or fear of repercussions. Even if they wanted to report the crimes, there's little help in a country where police and justice systems are destroyed or distracted and where resources for the powerless are almost non-existent.

CAIRO — The New Year's Day suicide bombing of a church that killed 21 people has opened up a vein of fury among Egypt's Christians, built up over years of what they call government failure to address persistent discrimination and violence against their community.
Christian protests spread to Cairo from the northern city of Alexandria where the attack took place. Late Sunday, riots erupted outside the cathedral-headquarters of the Coptic Church after the country's top Muslim religious figures and government officials met with Pope Shenouda III.
Protesters threw bottles and stones at riot police outside the cathedral, injuring 45 policemen, security officials said. Elsewhere, demonstrators threw stones at cars on two main highways, and hundreds marched in other parts of the capital, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.CAIRO — The New Year's Day suicide bombing of a church that killed 21... more

Drivers who cause accidents in at least 50 cities can be billed for the police and firefighters who show up. Critics are upset that cities are charging for what used to be a basic service.
Reporting from Sacramento —
One more good reason to drive safely in California: If you cause an accident, you may be on the hook to pay the police and firefighters who show up to help.
At least 50 cities in the state have adopted so-called crash-tax laws allowing local governments to seek reimbursement from insurance companies for the costs of sending public emergency crews to accident scenes. The fees can amount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars. If insurers don't pay, cities can hire collection agents to seek payment from the motorists involved.
Billing crash victims might seem heartless. But public officials said that budget woes are compelling them to find new ways to raise revenue. Over the last six years, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Hemet and other cities have started charging fees for accident-related public services.

rice of a traffic ticket going up $4
Fee is being added to help pay for air transportation of critically ill patients and is the latest increase imposed on drivers.
'Crash taxes' are growing in popularity among cash-strapped California cities 'Crash taxes' are growing in popularity among cash-strapped California cities
By Nardine Saad, Los Angeles Times
D
California motorists, already in sticker shock over rising fines for parking and traffic tickets, should prepare for more beginning Saturday.
The state is adding $4 to the price of every traffic ticket. The fee will pay for emergency air transport services because of a revenue shortfall in Medi-Cal funding. It is set to generate an estimated $34 million a year through 2016, according to state estimates.
The increase is the latest in a string of fee increases statewide and in Los Angeles, as governments turn to motorists to pay more amid budget problems. Last year, the state increased the fines for traffic tickets and used the proceeds to help renovate courthouses. The changes included a $35 surcharge on traffic tickets.

"We have so many different fees tacked on to traffic tickets and many tickets are in the $400 range now," Auto Club of Southern California spokeswoman Marie Montgomery said. "They should be paying a fine because they broke the law but it's just a question of how disproportionate this is on drivers versus other taxpayers."
Another law taking effect Saturday opened the door to a potential revenue stream for cities: allowing local agencies to install cameras on street sweepers to catch parking violators.
Assemblyman Steve Bradford (D-Gardena), who wrote the bill, said in a statement that it "is vital to keeping our waterways clean" and that ticketing more cars that block street sweepers will help.
Operators of the street sweepers won't actually issue tickets to violators. Rather, cameras on the vehicles would capture the date and time of a violation and cities would mail citations, similar to the way red-light camera tickets are issued.
Bradford said the photo tickets would "remove personnel from potentially volatile confrontations when issuing citations and allow local parking enforcement officers to focus time and efforts on more pertinent matters."
It's unclear how many cities plan to use sweeper cameras. Los Angeles had no plans to install the cameras on street sweepers yet but it "may be looked at in the future," said Sean Anderson, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
There has been grumbling from some motorists over rising traffic fines. According to a report prepared earlier this year, revenues from red-light cameras more than doubled in Los Angeles from $200,000 a month in 2007 to $400,000 a month at the end of 2009.
The $4 surcharge that takes effect Saturday will apply to all traffic tickets issued in California. The Emergency Medical Air Transportation Act calls for the $4 fee to be augmented with matching federal funds for the helicopter ambulances, which transport the most critical patients from accident scenes to trauma centers.
Another law taking effect will make social hosts older than 21 legally accountable for injury or death if they knowingly give alcohol to someone under the legal drinking age.
Several proposals that would have allowed government to raise further traffic ticket revenues failed to become law.
One would have allowed cities to ticket drivers who failed to make full stops, based on photos taken by red-light cameras.
"It may come back again," the Auto Club's Montgomery said. "Given the budget problems this year, who knows?"

STOCKHOLM (AP) — The two Swedish women accusing Julian Assange of sex crimes are supporters of WikiLeaks, not pawns of the CIA, and they simply seek justice for a violation of their "sexual integrity," their lawyer says.
Claes Borgstrom, a self-professed feminist who used to be Sweden's ombudsman for gender equality, told the Associated Press he finds it "very upsetting" that Assange, his lawyers and some supporters are suggesting the case is a smear campaign against WikiLeaks, the secret-spilling website Assange founded.
"He's been spreading false rumors that he knows are untrue. It's reckless against these two women," Borgstrom said by phone Thursday. "They, too, are supporters of WikiLeaks. They support its work."
Assange denies the allegations of sexual misconduct, which his lawyers say stem from a dispute over "consensual but unprotected sex." He has not been charged.STOCKHOLM (AP) — The two Swedish women accusing Julian Assange of sex crimes are... more

A pot-shop robbery and shooting we told you about last week critically wounded two people at the outlet, and police today planned to circulate images of suspects from security video to see if anyone recognized any of the three suspects.
It's been a deadly year for the medical marijuana business, with nearly least a half-dozen related murders in the L.A. area related to pot shops. Medical cannabis might be legit in California, but it sure feels like the Wild West sometimes in L.A.
The Dec. 15 holdup at 8244 White Oak Ave. was reported at 9:25 p.m., police said.
Cops said the trio escaped in a gold-colored SUV.
The weed retailer had reportedly only been open a few months, and it was not registered with the city as required -- although a judge recently forced L.A. to back down on enforcement of its pot shop regulations.

Hours after masked gunmen open fire on U.N. base, Laurent Gbagbo tells thousands of peacekeepers to leave immediately. The U.S. and African Union endorsed his rival as the rightful winner of last month's election.
Abidjan —
— The man who refuses to step down from the presidency ordered thousands of U.N. peacekeepers to leave Ivory Coast immediately, calling the global body that has endorsed his political rival an "agent of destabilization."
Saturday's move was the latest act of political defiance by Laurent Gbagbo, who has been in power since 2000 and maintains that he is the winner of last month's runoff vote in the West African nation despite growing international pressure on him to concede defeat.
The statement, read on state television, came just two days after as many as 30 people were killed in street violence in Ivory Coast. It’s the rumor that won’t seem to go away: Does the queen of daytime TV like the ladies?
Oprah Winfrey is once again trying to put it all to rest: “I’m not a lesbian.”
The 56-year-old media mogul opened up to Barbara Walters in a revealing and emotional interview on ABC and discussed the story that’s been tabloid fodder for years.
And she’s taking it one step further lest you think there’s even an ounce of female smushin’ going on with her and her bestie Gayle King: “I’m not even kind of a lesbian.
“And the reason why [the rumor] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s No. 1. No. 2, why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”
In a clip that aired Wednesday morning on “Good Morning America,” a crying Oprah also addressed her close friendship with King: “She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person.”
So why all the tears? Oprah says it’s because she’s never told those words to King. Awwww.It’s the rumor that won’t seem to go away: Does the queen of daytime TV... more

WARSAW (AP) — An Arctic chill killed a dozen people in Poland and snarled traffic and halted flights across Europe, freezing ducks in lakes and prompting animal lovers to open their cellars to shivering stray cats, officials said Friday.
Southeastern Europe struggled with some of the worst flooding in a century. Entire villages in Montenegro were submerged by the rising waters, with Interior Minister Ivan Brajovic describing the floods as "unprecedented."
With the latest deaths in Poland, the total number of people in Europe who have died of exposure in recent days has risen to at least 40.
It's "an early start to the winter because we are still in the autumn season," said Omar Baddour, a scientist with the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva. "It's not very, very unusual, but it is an extreme winter spell that is going to last a few days."
Baddour said that the cold comes from north-south winds pushing an Arctic chill over the continent, a phenomenon also seen at the start of last year's long and frigid winter. Most of the time, winds blow from west to east over Europe.
But he said it's too soon to say what the early winter weather — which usually sets in around Christmas — might herald for the continent this year.
In many parts of Europe, train services reported more heavy disruptions because of icy tracks, but air traffic was returning to normal in many places. Britain's Gatwick Airport reopened after heavy snowfall forced a 48-hour closure, though its website warned of delays and cancellations as freezing temperatures persisted. London's Heathrow Airport was operating, but 45 arrivals and 25 departures were canceled.
The Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris was again operating normally, but many areas of France faced traffic problems because of the snow.
In Poland, police reported 12 deaths overnight, raising the death toll there to 30 over the past three days. Police were carrying out street patrols in hopes of getting drunks and homeless people into shelters since they make up the bulk of those who freeze to death each year.
Animal lovers in Poland were also mobilizing, with some opening their cellars to stray cats and others pulling ducks from frozen lakes. Foresters have also been putting out fodder for bison, elk and other forest-dwellers.
In the Czech Republic, the death toll rose to four after a man was found frozen in Prague. In Germany, three people have now been killed, while authorities in northern England said they had found the bodies of two elderly residents this week who are believed to have frozen to death.
Authorities in the Alpine nation of Austria — no stranger to cold and snow — reported one death earlier in the week. The weather delayed some flights at Vienna's airport, where officials said a crew of about 80 people were working nonstop to clear runways and de-ice aircraft.
Just across the border in Slovakia, the snow caused traffic snarls in the capital, Bratislava, while a hospital in the eastern city of Presov treated dozens for injuries blamed on the snow.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency in three Balkan countries — Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro — and evacuated hundreds of people after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding along the Drina River — the worst in 104 years. But floodwaters receded significantly overnight in Bosnia, leaving a trail of mud and debris in many areas.

Yoko Ono plans to again oppose the release of the man who nearly 30 years ago killed her husband, John Lennon.
Mark David Chapman, who shot the former Beatle on Dec. 8, 1980, is in Attica prison in upstate New York and is up for parole next month.
Ono, 77, has sent a letter to the parole board, her lawyer Peter Shukat told the Daily News. But he wouldn't say if it's the same letter Ono has submitted every two years since Chapman first became eligible for parole in 2000. In that letter, Ono wrote that if Chapman is released, "I am afraid it will bring back the nightmare, the chaos and confusion once again. Myself and John's two sons would not feel safe for the rest of our lives."
Chapman, 55, is scheduled to be interviewed by a three-member parole panel during the week of Aug. 9. It will be his sixth bid for release.Yoko Ono plans to again oppose the release of the man who nearly 30 years ago killed... more

he woman who told President Barack Obama that she was "exhausted" from defending him and his economic policies and waiting for the change she expected after voting for him has another reason to be put out: She's lost her job.
Velma Hart, the chief financial officer for Am Vets, a veteran services organization based in Maryland, said Monday in an interview with CNBC that she was laid off as part of the nonprofit's effort to cut expenses.
"I want to focus on the positive and be optimistic," said Hart, who lives in Upper Marlboro, Md. "And assume that somehow things will work out, that there's an opportunity out there with Velma's name on it that's right around the corner."
Am Vets executive director Jim King told The Washington Post that the nonprofit was looking for ways to survive financially.
"It's not anything she did," King told the Post for a story that appeared online Monday. "She got bit by the same snake that has bit a lot of people. It was a move to cut our bottom line."
In September, during a town hall-style meeting on the economy televised by CNBC, Hart told Obama: "Quite frankly, I'm exhausted. WASHINGTON — Just about as many Americans want Tea Party-backed members of Congress to take the lead in setting policy during the next year as choose President Obama, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.
In a survey taken Friday through Sunday, 28% say Obama should have the most influence on government policy next year while 27% say the Tea Party standard-bearers should. GOP congressional leaders are chosen by 23%, Democratic congressional leaders by 16%.
The results reflect the strength of the Tea Party movement as the GOP prepares to take control of the House of Representatives in January.
The survey also underscores Obama's weakened standing. His overall job approval rating, at 42%, is 1 percentage point higher than his historic low in midsummer. His 35% approval rating on the economy is the lowest of his presidency.WASHINGTON — Just about as many Americans want Tea Party-backed members of... more

Reporting from Washington —
After the wreckage of the midterm election,
Democrats with close ties to the White House are pouring out advice on how to avoid political paralysis and prepare President Obama for his reelection fight.
But a sharp fault line has emerged. Liberals want Obama to confront Republicans more directly. Moderates, remembering how Bill Clinton altered course after losing control of Congress in 1994 and won reelection in 1996, want the president to work more cooperatively with Republicans in hopes of avoiding gridlock.
"It's clear our base feels very strongly about the president taking a firm stand," Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) said in an interview. "Meanwhile, the American people are saying, 'Come up with a solution.' He's torn between competing interests in the body politic."
For now, Obama seems to be coming down on the side of those who want conciliation. He is scrambling to round up enough Republican votes in the Senate for an arms treaty with Russia that until recently had seemed like a sure thing. And he has suggested he would consider a temporary extension of tax cuts for people earning more than $250,000 annually — a concession he had once vigorously opposed.
Some progressives with strong ties to Obama are dismayed.
Christopher Edley, a former Obama campaign advisor who worked in the Clinton administration, said he was troubled that the White House appeared ready to compromise in the tax fight even before serious negotiations had started.Reporting from Washington —

Two of the Democrats' most prominent political strategists gave a withering verdict on President Obama's performance in the midterm election campaign, describing his message as utterly out of touch with the pain voters are enduring in the economic downturn.
James Carville and Stanley Greenberg, both former advisors to ex- President Bill Clinton, said Thursday that Obama wrongly tried to paint the economy as making a comeback worthy of an election day reward – an assessment that didn't ring true to the average voter.
"This is an almost Depression-like economic crisis that they minimized,'' Greenberg told reporters at a breakfast meeting. "They predicated everything as looking back – we got them out of the ditch. They're still in the middle of a crisis. This was a total mis-framing of the moment.''
Offering advice on how Obama can recover, Greenberg suggested something rare in presidential politics: a mea culpa.
"I don't think there's any reason why you can't reset and start over,'' he said. "I think you can say, 'Got it wrong.' …. Voters actually are pretty forgiving of leaders who indicate that they've learned something.''Two of the Democrats' most prominent political strategists gave a withering... more

BERLIN (Reuters) – Two undertakers in the northwestern German city of Cologne are trying to tap into the gay market by selling coffins adorned with images of male nudes.
The prize piece in their display window is a coffin decorated with images of mostly naked, muscular young men in athletic poses inspired by Italian Renaissance paintings.
"We believe you should be able to have a coffin that lets you embark on your last journey in a way that reflects how you lived your life," undertaker Thomas Brandl told Reuters on Thursday.
The unconventional coffin, which costs 1,650 euros ($2,300), has aroused fascination among customers, said Brandl: "People are really interested because it's so unique. Reactions have been very positive so far.";_ylt=AnuZa6nwuKKKIlFkErKwv92s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTFmc3VtaTU1BHBvcwMxOTQEc2VjA2FjY29yZGlvbl9... more
