This is a very powerful story from an artist who has accomplished very much musically in such a short period of time, and in spite of the struggle of Cancer she experienced herself and also witnessed through the lives of several of her love ones, she is now moving forward with the birth of her new song “Cancer I Don’t Want You Here”.
Now let her tell you her story – “From the death of Cancer To the birth of a New Song” – The Jelixa Testimony…
Hi Everyone,
I am writing this too explain how and why this Cancer song came about. My Mom came up with the concept of it and shared it with Michael Bell, my music producer / manager and Label owner. Thy both came together and started working on the song to get it done for me to sing it!
Well let’s start with my great grandma, Juanita Santiago, my mom Jenny’s grandma who was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and how she passed away from it on May 29, 1980 and Mom was just finding out while she was 4 months pregnant with me. I was born 5 months later on November 6, 1980, and had my first touch with the ugly killer Cancer when it hit close to home again, but this time very close to home… it struck and killed my Dad Samuel Rodriguez SR. He had a brain tumor and he passed on February 13, 1985, ironic, a day before Valentine’s Day.
By this time I was 4 years old and still not understanding this terrible Killer who now took two life’s of my love ones…not a good time for the family Then cancer knocked on my door, for my Doctor found a tumor on my right thyroid close too my vocals. This happened October 31, 2007, and believe it or not…it was on Halloween day! I was operated two weeks before Xmas and waited a week to find out that God had spared my life and had given wisdom to the great surgeons that operated on me, because we later found out that the tumor was benign, and that I would be able too keep singing my passion.
Then 3 years after my scare cancer struck another blow, but this time it was my Aunt Norma at 59, my mom’s sister. She had Pancreatic Cancer, and it took her life within a year’s time… March 2010 too April 12, 2011. Aunt Norma was all the time at home. She went into the hospital for Chemo and she spoke too Mom about how awful, sad and painful it was having to deal with cancer… she found herself questioning “why me”? So my Mom seeing her sister this way, slipping deeper into this killer’s grip…another family member, she decided to write the story line about how a person with Cancer feels and fights till the end with hope for a cure in sight but also with the knowledge that it may not come in time for them, but they will hold on trying to enjoy each moment with their love ones until their time comes!
In memory of my three family members, R.I.P Juanita Santiago AKA Great Grandma, Samuel Rodriguez Sr. AKA Daddy, And Norma Borrero AKA Aunt Norma, to those who have died from it, and to all others who are currently battling it. I realize cancer does not discriminate on Race; Hispanic, African American, Asian, Caucasian, rich or poor, famous or unknown!
Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Donna Summer, Robin Gibb and Adam Yauch, Just to name of few who were taken by Cancer in the past few years! I pray once you hear the cancer song “Cancer I Don’t Want You Here”, that you all will buy and download it, not just because you love the song, but also because it will help a great cause in the process!

Every since Bell Time Records owner "Michael Bell" posted an article on the "Beta Music" New Genre Concept, there has been many blogs, websites, bands and other articles picking up on it and taking it into other places. But this "Beta Music" concept as to becoming another gnere was created by Music Producer/Label Owner Michael Bell of Bell Time Records. It was first used in relation to the recording artist "Jelixa", pointing to a unique mixture Pop/House/Techno/Rock/Electronic & Funk, often times fused together within a song of itself. Since this idea is in an experimental stage, and therefore, cannot be definded under any current genre of music, Michael decided to come up with "Beta Music" of which, denotes something being tested, something new, something just being released or made known.
Whenever you find others writing about your idea or ideas, you then you are on to something whether they are saying good or bad things about t. As you have heard many times before, publicity is publicity....bad publicity get's you more exposure than no publicity at all, although, good publicity is the choice of this writer.
To not create a controversy as to who started the "Beta Music" New Genre Concept, this writer will let you decide by doing your own homework as to searching and reading where this concept came from. Jelixa is the fresh new Pop artist out of North Richland Hills, Texas, introducing a new genre of music called "Beta Music". While trying to figure out what genre of music should be used for her up coming debut album, Jelixa's music producer Michael Bell / CEO of Bell Time Records decided to test the market for a new kind of genre called "Beta Music". If you're reading this article you're probably wondering what Beta Music is.
The word "Beta" has several different meanings people could use in a given application. But in the application we're expressing in this article, the word beta will denote "The first version released from a community that developed the the product for the purpose of evaluation or real world testing". Therefore, the phrase "Beta Music" suggest that Jelixa is the first Pop Artist to put a name and face on the diversity and variation of new "unboxed In" music created. To the readers of this article, do you love pop music? Do you love house? Jelixa, the new Pop/House Sensation out of North Richland Hills, Texas, has made her mark with her Hot Debut Single Release: Are You the One for Me. What a Talent to see and a voice to hear….Dance Song that will surely rock anybody's groove!
Jelix Rodriguez, although she goes by her first name "Jelixa", is a twenty nine year old female artist who started off dancing and singing on coffee tables and imitating famous performers from Puerto Rico at the age of two. But at twenty nine she is now doing what some of the young people call “Poppin!” That’s right; she’s Poppin with her new hot track single “Are You the One for Me!” What are the responses she is getting from her listeners? Their loving the track! Their loving the vibe! Their loving Jelixa! People are starting to get a taste of what Jelixa is all about…..so much more to come!
At four and half years old Jelixa’s father past away, and a year later her mom moved to Texas and took Jelixa and Jelixa’s older brother along with her. But even after the death of Jelixa’s father, she would always dance to the Latin and Motown Music her mother played daily, and Jelixa would once again, as usual, be found dancing and singing to Marc Anthony, The Supremes, Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna and other artist’s songs.
While attending Watauga Middle School, Jelixa joined the Choir; it was obvious to those who heard and knew her that the love of music was in her! She was chosen by a group of girls from her school to play as “Jazmine” from the Disney Movie Alladdin, and she continued to stay in Choir all through Haltom High School as she competed in singing competitions and won medals.
Once Jelixa graduated from High School she started going to college to Major in Physical Therapy. She later quit school to work at Sam’s Club/Wal-Mart for eight and one halve years so she could help her mother financially, for her mother was very much in need of Jelixa’s help. One unique thing that stands out about Jelixa is that even while working daily at Sam’s Club/Wal-Mart, music was never far from her mind. So she decided that her favorite show “American Idol” was the place that could help her make her dream come true. She appeared on American Idol and sung a Christina Aguilera song, but unfortunately like many others, she was not chosen. So she decided the next year she would try again, but a tumor was found on her thyroid and she had to have surgery. Thank God it was not malignant, but an additional fear was brought on by what the doctors had said, “She’s at risk of her vocal being scarred”….all went well.
Again destiny would play its part, but this time for the better. Through Jelixa’s mom, Jelixa met Michael Bell, Music Producer, and CEO of Indie Label Bell Time Records. Michael heard Jelixa sing and spoke to her about producing her as a Pop/House artist….surely Jelixa is now on her way to fulfilling her dreams. For all that she’s gone through, and for the committed love she has shown to her mother over the years, Jelixa is bound to be a start soon to shine!
Jelixa’s desire is that the world will accept and love her music. With the support of her family, friends and Indie label Bell Time Records, maybe one day her living room stage will become a real one, and the coffee tables she use to sing on will possibly become a precious memory for her to tell her future children about!
