Julian Heicklen, a former Penn State University Chemistry Professor, believes jurors should vote their consciences when they determine a verdict and not go by the laws that are in the books. And to get his message out, he handed out pamphlets to people outside a Federal Courthouse in New York City. This is the oldest means of advancing an idea and an opinion in America–handing out pamphlets! “This act is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution. Yet the Professor has been indicted for jury tampering! This charge is a farce! “He has not targeted any specific juror [or] over any specific case. Clearly the government fears the Professor, because if the jurors vote their consciences, then many more unjust government laws may be harder to enforce. The government is bent on silencing him.

Daytona Beach – The ACLU of Florida today filed a legal challenge to an Administrative Order entered by Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. of the Ninth Judicial Circuit. The Order bans protected speech on the Orange County and Osceola County Courthouse complexes. The ACLU’s Petition for Writ of Certiorari asks the Fifth District Court of Appeal of Florida to review and overturn the Order.
The ACLU of Florida filed the Petition on behalf of the Fully Informed Jury Association (“FIJA”) and one of its supporters and volunteers, James Cox, who, until Judge Perry’s order, regularly spoke about jurors’ rights and distributed leaflets and other related educational materials at the Orange County Courthouse complex. Mr. Cox’s expressive conduct, and the FIJA materials he offered to members of the public focused primarily on jury nullification, sometimes referred to as “jury pardons.”
Cooperating attorney Lawrence G. Walters, of Walters Law Group, and ACLU of Florida lawyers Randall Marshall and Maria Kayanan are asking the Fifth District Court of Appeal to vacate the January 31, 2011 order that bans the dist

The Fully Informed Jury Association made national news last night on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch.
Judge Napolitano said “Florida state judge Belvin Perry, recently signed an order banning free speech outside a Florida courthouses. The order is aimed at the non-profit called The Fully Informed Jury Association, which seeks to encourage jurors to vote their consciences. That organization handed out pamphlets to sitting and potential jurors as they entered courthouses, and judge Perry has blocked this practice. But its irrelevant what the pamphlets say. In America we have the natural and constitutional right to free speech, where on earth does this judge presume to get the authority, to stop anyone from saying anything outside a public courthouse? Has he ever heard of the First Amendment?”
Judge Napolitano is absolutely correct. This is a violation of freedom of speech, and judge Belvin Perry is violating the First Amendment.

First of all I would like to thank The Fully Informed Jury Association for choosing me for the position of Community Organizer, Campaign Leader in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Advocating freedom is a great passion of mine and we can only do this through educating individuals freely, and that is why I accepted this position.
For those of you that do not know me, I support the rights of the Individual, and that each individual owns their own life. To deny this right is to imply that another person has a higher claim on your life than you have. No other person, or group of persons, owns your life nor do you own the lives of others.
It is my mission to try and make sure that every individual in Fort Lauderdale is armed with the information, and educational resources needed to be a Fully Informed Juror.
When you sit on a jury in a criminal trial, you have the right to vote according to your conscience, no matter what the judge says about the law. As a juror, you are the final safeguard for justice.
My tasks will also include setting up community and college groups, holding meetings and will consiFirst of all I would like to thank The Fully Informed Jury Association for choosing me... more
