Consider this an accidental article. I had an accident. My brain got run over by a bus full of Congressional and Presidential betrayals that weighed a ton. I thought I would write about those betrayals but realized I had already written about most of them and just when I think I’ve come across a completely new topic, someone else has already written about it and posted it, although I am happy so many have taken their words right out of my mouth. You are welcome.Consider this an accidental article. I had an accident. My brain got run over by a bus... more

Ah yes, trotting out those tired old lines:
No matter how many times someone points out the myth of hippies spitting on vets just didn’t happen in any numbers, that the protests were aimed at the Pentagon, not G.I. Joe, the story just won’t die.Ah yes, trotting out those tired old lines:

By Diana May Waldman – WorldWide Hippies–I had a nightmare last night. I was walking down the street in my tight, white pants and this big red ball was chasing me. Not only was it chasing me, it wanted to land on my crotch. You know–white pants, big red splotch on my crotch. Nothing screams louder than a big red splotch on your pants to let the world know that you are bleeding like a dead pig. And we all know that this could have been prevented if we had used Tampax brand tampons instead of Playtex brand tampons.By Diana May Waldman – WorldWide Hippies–I had a nightmare last night. Reading Kate Harris’ post on the state of the student far-left in Scotland and England sparked a discussion about the problems of ‘student activism’ and led me to think a bit about a number of issues I’ve been mulling over recently around how we organise. The problem is in fact less with the student and more with the activism part of that phrase; students, perhaps, have a more pronounced tendency to some of the problems I discuss below, but they are far from the only culprits and in fact I believe the problems exist across most of the contemporary far-left.Reading Kate Harris’ post on the state of the student far-left in Scotland and... more

By Dylan DeBarr,Worldwidehippies -I had a fascination with patent leather shoes. To me they weren’t just shoes, they were dancing shoes. Tap dancing shoes. As soon as my mother bought me a pair, I was dancing. I couldn’t stop dancing. I loved my new shoes. So much, in fact, that my mother would have to yank them off my feet for bath or bedtime.By Dylan DeBarr,Worldwidehippies -I had a fascination with patent leather shoes. To me... more

Been wondering what is going on with the “Christian Religion” these days?
When I was a kid, I used have a lot of admiration and in some cases awe, in
regard to some “Christians”. They were so giving and amazingly steadfast
on their following of their Jesus’ teaching about forgiveness and helping
the less fortunate in the World. When I went looking for “God” in the 60s IBeen wondering what is going on with the “Christian Religion” these days?... more

Last Friday, the day the NATO 3 were arrested, approximately 35,948 people were arrested across the United States. On Sunday, when at least 45 protesters were arrested at Chicago’s NATO summit protests, approximately 35,948 Americans – the number arrested on a daily basis in the US, according to FBI statistics – were handcuffed, read their Miranda rights (maybe), carted off to jail and booked. The plurality of those people were arrested for nonviolent drug crimes. Some of these people will be charged, convicted, prosecuted and jailed.Last Friday, the day the NATO 3 were arrested, approximately 35,948 people were... more

Last I wrote why I would not pledge my allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Not surprisingly, I received a number of emails, some all in caps, yelling at me the familiar phrase so fraught with redneck intelligence and wit (or is that an oxymoron?) “America, Love it or Leave it!” Talk about polarizing the continuum? No wonder we are in such deep shit!Last I wrote why I would not pledge my allegiance to the flag of the United States of... more

Yes, I know what you are thinking, “Responsible? What exactly do you mean by that? I feed my kids, pay my bills, pick up the dog poop. Well now this is weird: It’s not even Memorial Day yet, and we movie fans may have already seen the biggest hit of the summer. Indeed, judging from the disappointing grosses for Dark Shadows and Battleship, it looks like some of us may be more interested in seeing that hit again and again, rather than buying tickets to anything else.Well now this is weird: It’s not even Memorial Day yet, and we movie fans may... more

By the time I was four years old my Indian grandmother, my mamaw had taught me a lot about nature. She taught which mushrooms were poisonous and which weren’t. She taught me about berries and dandelion tea. She taught me about birds and insects and how to get a squirrel to each right out of your hand. Spending summers with my mamaw always proved to be an adventure.By the time I was four years old my Indian grandmother, my mamaw had taught me a lot... more
