Steven Slater provided a vicarious thrill for every fed-up office drone this year when the Jet Blue flight attendant commandeered the plane's intercom, dropped an F-bomb on an annoying passenger, publicly quit his job, grabbed two beers and hopped down the emergency slide onto the tarmac. Did he ever dream that yellow inflatable slide would deliver him all the way to the coveted honor of infoMania's 2010 Man of the Year? Of course not; no mortal can dream that big. Our own Ben Hoffman gets Slater to relive his star-making moment and the media explosion that ensued, though he dodges Ben's hard-hitting question about the "biggest turd" he ever found in an airplane lavatory.
infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman, Bryan Safi and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

I'm sure many of you remember Jet Blue's flight attendant Steven Slater, for his awesome exit for a job ever. Steven has just became the official spokesperson for Toktumi's Mile High Text Club- a contest involving their dual mode VOIP/SMS iPhone/iPod application, Line2.
This application lets you set up a second line on your phone, where you can seamlessly call over VOIP without disrupting your normal service. Incoming calls will show you the option of accepting or declining, instead of hanging up like typical VOIP apps.
Not to mention, you can text from a plane. Yep.
The contest is actually pretty fun and there are already a ton of outrageous and "Omg. That can really happen?" stories posted up there. If you're interested in entering, you need to text your craziest in flight story to 222-222-2222 from your Line2 app, and if you don't have the app, you can download it free.
Once you text in your insane story, it'll automatically be pulled into the Mile High Text Club website, where you can share it with your social networks and let the world see. The grand prize winner will get a weekend holiday shopping trip for two, to NYC. Naturally, this includes air travel and hotel.
There will be seven 2nd place winners, that can win an iPod touch. Thirteen 3rd prize winners get gift cards for a free 6 months of Line2 service. Which means, you can text and annoy all your friends in flight :)
So go ahead and enter. But you better have an amazingly awesome story. I expect to see some of the best posted!I'm sure many of you remember Jet Blue's flight attendant Steven Slater, for... more

Earlier this week, US airline attendant Steven Slater quit his job in breathtakingly cool style, following an argument with a passenger. After he was allegedly insulted and hit, Slater swore over the intercom and grabbed a beer from the planes galley before making his escape down the emergency slide at New York's JFK international airport.
Slater's since become a hero, with over 20,000 people following various groups dedicated to him on Facebook.
A true sign of his arrival in folklore, however, is this CGI animated version of what happened. After Slater exited the plane, he drove home and was comforted by his boyfriend. In the video, Slater's boyfriend is wearing nothing but boxer shorts and lives in a pink bedroom, probably to avoid confusion. The animators are helpful like that, see.

According to our sources, Steven Slater was minding his own business, polishing his treasured broadsword and snacking on gunpowder, when a rogue bag came flying toward him from a disgruntled passenger. Sensing danger, he quickly thwarted the attack by stopping the bag with his face. The perpetrator, a middle aged woman Slater took to be the villain from a Marvel comic book movie, was then reverse suplexed by Slater through the floor of the airplane which automatically set off the emergency escape slide on the vessel.
