It really is kind of disturbing to think that Newt Gingrich is sitting atop the polls in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, because he’s just…bad. He’s ill-tempered, mean-spirited, self-serving, self-aggrandizing, and every word that comes crawling out of his mouth just oozes with contempt and dickishness.

Rick Perry, the disastrous governor from Texas, who flew into the race with both guns blazing, but who has taken an epic faceplant in the debates and speeches, showcasing with pride his less than stellar intellect – or his impending nervous breakdown – which, let’s be honest, makes for some thoroughly enjoyable and snicker-worthy web viewing. Not satisfied with their current picks of the litter, they’ve been hoping against hope that Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), Koch brothers darling and rude jackass extraordinaire, will jump in the race and save them all from their own nightmarish insanity that is manifesting itself in the form of their batshit crazy candidates, as they slowly approach the harsh realization that batshit crazy will never get elected.

One of the biggest beefs I have with those of the Libertarian persuasion is the idea that in a country of over 300 million people, now struggling to survive in a global setting and a global economy, no federal government whatsoever can somehow work and that if you allow every man to be an island and allow the free market to police itself, everything will somehow turn out OK, because it’s worked out so well in the past.
