Heart Shaped Rock is comprised of members from two legendary bands from the Portland, ME rock scene: Tribal Iris and Twisted Roots. HSR is also the newest addition to the ZenHill roster. Front woman Sheridan Giordano presides over leads band’s guitar-driven sound. They are at times reminiscent of Siouxsie and The Banshees and Thin Lizzy with overtones of modern alternative bands. HSR is truly one-of-a-kind and we are excited to have them in the family.
Heart Shaped Rock is scheduled to record ZenHill’s second “One Day Record” at SugarHill recording studios on July 24th. More on that event as it nears. In the meantime … we’ll “let Karma come and get you”.

“Here comes the party, you might as well accept it”, the first words chanted on “Revelator”, the powerful new album from Sideshow Tramps are very apropos. The definitive medicine show folk rockers and ZenHill are teaming up to usher in the next season of the Tramps. “The Reverend” Craig Kinsey, Geoffrey “Uncle Tic” Muller, “Coach” Shane Lauder and Scott “Ragtag Mac” McNeil have been extremely busy readying their tour-de-force second LP.

Space City Rock

SCR was extended an invitation to sit in on the recording sessions for American Honey, the new album by Roky Moon and BOLT. It was a chance for me to soak in the creative process of a band that has been an enigma to me for the better part of two years, and it would also be my first foray into the hallowed halls of the legendary SugarHill Studios.
I really had no clear expectations of what would await me when I pulled up into the lot. I just thought it was cool that the people at ZenHill Records would extend an opportunity like this.
I’ve sat in on recording sessions before, and honestly, they are long, tedious ordeals. Usually an engineer will lay down a few scratch tracks of the entire band as a reference so that they can go back, piece by piece, and record each instrument and performer on his own separate track. Then on top of that, the performers record take after take, trying to get their performances just right. I watched a band once take three months just to track a three-song demo, so imagine my mortification when I found out that Roky Moon and BOLT were recording their entire album in one day.
Stepping into SugarHill Studios was magic, just to be able to soak in the history and be in the presence of where so much American music history was made. Roky Moon and BOLT, a relatively young band, was recording their album where a long list of legends, like Lightin’ Hopkins, Freddy Fender, Willie Nelson, Ted Nugent, Calvin Owens, and Dizzy Gillespie recorded hits, not to mention Destiny’s Child, Smash Mouth, and ZZ Top. Take a moment to let that sink in, and that’s just pretty damn cool.

A little more than a week after Buxton and Wild Moccasins signed a deal with the independent New West Records, local country musician Robert Ellis finalized a deal with the label.
George Fontaine, the Houston-based president of the label said New West "is real excited about his stuff."
Ellis has a new album that he says "is completely done, we're just awaiting the artwork" It's the follow-up to his self-released The Great Rearranger and has been playing new tunes at his regular Wednesday gig at Fitzgerald's. The album, titled Photographs, will likely be out in June or July. New West has new albums due from Buddy Miller in March and Steve Earle in April; both are likely to precede it.
