A man bit into a police dog’s side and REFUSED to let go in a bizarre attack in West Haven, Conn.
Roderick Lewis, 23, allegedly approached police officer Scott Bloom, who was on patrol with his K-9 named Onyx, and shouted “I need a bag of dust,” a street term for the drug Angel Dust or PCP. He then reached into the officer’s waistband and a struggle ensued.
When Lewis began punching the officer in the face, the canine jumped out of the cruiser and clamped down on the suspect’s leg.
Incredibly, the suspect reacted by sinking his teeth into the dog’s leg so hard, the dog yelped in agony. And he refused to let go even as the dog tried to fight him off.
Officer Bloom had to forcibly remove the man from the dog.
Lewis was charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals.
The canine and the suspect were treated for injuries.
