Remember when John Kasich and his arrogant loudmouth Republican squatters there in Ohio’s Capitol told all of America that they didn’t really care that working families, union families were upset with them when they set out to bust Ohio’s employees’ unions? According to Kasich, it was going to be payback time to those unions who believed it was important to actually take care of Ohio workers. What you saw happen, Mr. Kasich, was a powerfully strong rejection, not just of your Fox News holdover regressive ideas – what we all saw was a rejection of Tea Party republicanism. You, personally, were rejected Mr. Kasich. What you and your Republican moral cripples stand for – that was rejected.

"Most of the GOP-controlled legislature, including the entire Ohio House, is up for election next year and might not be eager to be tied to a governor whose job approval rating has sunk to 36 percent, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll."
"The implications are quite significant and they really go beyond this issue," Tokaji said. "It will be a sign of a re-emergence of the Democratic party which has used the referendum to fight back despite Republicans controlling state government."

SB 5, the bill cutting collective bargaining rights for public employees which is on November's ballot for a citizen veto, probably ranks as the worst thing passed in Ohio under Gov. John Kasich. While there's a lot of competition for second place, the creation of JobsOhio has to be seen as one of the strong contenders.
Instead of the Ohio Department of Development continuing its traditional role,
House Bill 1, which Kasich signed into law in February, created a nonprofit headed by Kasich and eight board members he will appoint. JobsOhio will be responsible for reaching out to existing companies and firms thinking about expanding into Ohio, negotiating economic incentive packages and helping to commercialize research and technologies developed at the state’s universities.
As a private entity, the group will not be subject to the state’s open meetings and records laws, ethics and conflict of interest rules or other requirements that generally affect state agencies. Instead, JobsOhio will be required to have four public meetings annually and will have to disclose contract information, employee salaries and other details in an annual report.
As Plunderbund has detailed, the structure of JobsOhio creates the likelihood of kickbacks. Additionally, JobsOhio doesn't just represent a privatizing of job creation, but state liquor profits were handed over to the new entity, which removes a consistent revenue stream from the state.
Now, JobsOhio and Kasich's efforts to defend SB 5 have come together. ProgressOhio is suggesting that state money is going through JobsOhio to private chambers of commerce and development agencies that supported Kasich and other supporters of SB 5, as well as the bill itself:
Rothenberg said he began a close examination of JobsOhio after Kasich's surprise announcement that it will rely on Third Frontier money—in addition to hundreds of millions in liquor profits.
He especially took issue with Kasich's companion announcement that he has set aside a $24 million pool of Third Frontier funds for distribution to local chambers of commerce and other private, regional economic development agencies. The announcement came after most of the agencies or their partners endorsed SB5, a Kasich-backed law to limit the collective bargaining rights of police, firefighters, teachers and other public employees.
SB 5 or no, Kasich appears to be funneling state money to private organizations and businesses that are his ideological allies, and doing so within structures he set up to maximize his control and minimize transparency. The possibility that he's doing so in part to help underwrite a campaign on a ballot question just highlights how much corruption is possible within the structures he's set up.

Important message from AFL-CIO for OHIO
Below is an email from Andy Richards of the Ohio AFL-CIO, who created a petition at SignOn.org that is getting a lot of attention and may be of interest to people in your area. If you have concerns or feedback about this petition, click here.
Dear Ohio member,
Ohio could be the state that decides whether Barack Obama wins or loses the 2012 presidential election—and Ohio Republicans are already trying to change the rules to make it more difficult for the working poor, the elderly, students, and people of color to vote.
A series of bills moving right now in the Ohio legislature would require voters to present a photo ID when they vote—something 11% of Americans do not have, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. They would also cripple absentee voting, dramatically scale back early voting, and eliminate county-level flexibility to craft innovative, pro-voter policies.
It's obvious why Republicans want to change the rules—they want to make it harder for Democratic voters to cast their ballots. We can't let them get away with it.
That's why I created a petition to the Ohio State House and State Senate, which says:
"Ohioans deserve a fair, efficient, and accessible voting system. Don't push policies that set back voting rights in Ohio. Instead, work in a bipartisan fashion to craft real, forward-thinking, pro-voter reforms."
Will you sign the petition? Click here to add your name, and then pass it along to your friends:

Don't Let Republicans Manipulate Ohio's Redistricting Process!
John Kasich and the Republican-controlled legislature are using Karl Rove-style tactics to steal Democratic seats by manipulating the redistricting process.
Every ten years, legislators draw new legislative districts to keep up with population changes. But instead of drawing these districts fairly, Ohio Republicans are going for an all out power grab so they can try to dominate the statehouse and our Congressional delegation for years to come.
Enough! Stand with the DGA against Tea Party Republicans' plans to steal elections through unfair redistricting.
Use the form at the right to stand with the DGA and demand that Governor Kasich and Ohio Republicans stop their politically-motivated attempts to steal Democratic seats.Don't Let Republicans Manipulate Ohio's Redistricting Process!

Workers, activists and other volunteers are making fast progress in collecting the 231,000 signatures needed to put the repeal of S.B. 5 on the Ohio ballot this November. S.B. 5, pushed by Gov. John Kasich (R), eliminates the rights of 350,000 public employees to bargain for middle-class jobs.
The 35,000 member Ohio Civil Service Employees Association/AFSCME (OCSEA/AFSCME) set a goal of gathering 60,000 voters’ signature. In a mere two weeks, OCSEA canvassers have collected more than 20,000 signatures to “Kill the Bill.” (See photo.) Similar efforts are under way through the Buckeye State to hit the signature threshold by the June 30 deadline.
In Cleveland over the weekend, some 150 people came together at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church for an S.B. 5 repeal town hall meeting with faith and political allies, including members of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus and Wisconsin state Sen. Lena Taylor (D).
Taylor fought against Gov. Scott Walker’s bill that, like S.B. 5, also eliminates collective bargaining for public service workers. She told the crowd that both Walker and Kasich “have declared war” on public employees.
This is not a Wisconsin fight. This is not an Ohio fight. This is a fight for everybody.
(But just like Wisconsin, Ohio will need your support and we are in for a fight just look at this e-mail I received today and You'll see the battle we are fighting here from within...
Dear Gregory,
Now we know. There will be an effort to keep Senate Bill 5 on the books by an anti-worker group led by a corporate lobbyist aligned with Gov. John Kasich, House Speaker William Batchelder and Senate President Tom Niehaus.
They will be well-funded, but we have the numbers.
More than 10,000 volunteers are not asking where do I sign, but how do I circulate the people’s petition to exercise a citizen’s veto in November to repeal Senate Bill 5?
We Are Ohio needs your help. We want to prove that supporters like you are doing more than working tirelessly to collect signatures, you are also contributing to the campaign.
Will you contribute to We Are Ohio today and help us send a message that we are grass roots powered (Not Tea party grass either)and funded by hard working people like yourself?
Kasich, Batchelder and Niehaus are going to work with special interests to continue this unfair attack on employee rights and worker safety.(Cause thats how they roll elitist's)
Unlike their anti-worker group, We Are Ohio is a citizen-driven, community-based, bipartisan coalition that has come together. In just one month, with your help, we collected more than 214,399 signatures on our way to gathering roughly 500,000.
We also need your help to send another message.
Please give whatever you can to We Are Ohio today. Your contribution demonstrates that our movement is broad-based and citizen driven.
The facts aren’t going to change. Senate Bill 5 is an unfair attack on police officers, firefighters, teachers, nurses and others who serve and protect our communities. The bill will be devastating to local economies in small and large towns across Ohio. It does not create one job.
If you feel strongly and want to help us defeat this anti-worker effort, then please contribute whatever you can today to We Are Ohio. Please contribute today and join our growing base of hard working Ohioans who are proving this is a broad-based grass roots effort by donating to our cause.
Thank you for all that you do,
Mike Weinman

(A letter I received from the chairman of the Ohio Democratic party
Chris Redfern)
Dear, -----
While it feels like a hundred years, today is actually John Kasich’s 100th day in office – and he thinks he has a lot to brag about. He recently told the Cleveland Plain Dealer with a wide smile, “we got a lot done. It’s pretty amazing.”
If working hard for 100 days to dismantle Ohio’s middle class is his idea of “getting a lot done,” then Mr. Kasich is right, he has indeed gotten a lot done. And, in a sadly perverse way, it is “amazing” that we have a Governor who has done so much to damage this state.
Here is a snapshot of what John Kasich has “done” in just 100 days:
*He has waged war on the middle class.
*He took away collective bargaining rights from our public servants.Kasich point
*He proposed a state budget that will destroy communities, impose backdoor tax increases and cut vital services.
*He sent 16,000 infrastructure jobs to other states.
*He put a “For Sale” sign on Ohio – including our prisons and our Turnpike.
*He has run state government in secret.
*He showed disrespect for Ohioans from all walks of life by telling African American leaders “I don’t need your people.”
*He even called police officers “idiots” and said that our state isn’t “cool.”
But what is truly “amazing” about the last 100 days is not anything that John Kasich has done, but everything that YOU have done. Supporters like you have fought back against his agenda. Tens of thousands of you wrote letters, talked to friends and neighbors, attended rallies and made small-dollar contributions for the first time.
Like John Kasich, we at the Ohio Democratic Party, along with our allies in the Labor and progressive communities are working to “get a lot done.” But unlike John Kasich, we are working to protect middle class Ohioans. We are going to bring Senate Bill 5 directly to the ballot for an up or down vote. And we are confident that – with your continued help – John Kasich will find the results of that vote… “amazing.”
Sincerely,
Chris Redfern
Chairman, Ohio Democratic Party
P.S. We need to continue to show John Kasich that we won’t stand by while he attacks the middle class. (If you can go to link or my site has a link too, if you can Contribute Please, do.. you can help us save the middle-class,lower-class and workers rights anything you can do will help to fight this right-wing Fascist agenda Thanks) -figgdimension http://figrd.blogspot.com/

(A letter to me from the Ohio Democratic Party i'd like to share with you after multiple demonstrations in my hometown and all over Ohio against Kasichs Budget cuts and Union breaking his popularity has plummeted rightly so.. and Buckeyes are leading the fight with a lower approval rating than Wis. Gov Walker )
Polls show that the majority of Ohioans – and the majority of Americans – are on our side in this fight. And thanks to your efforts to get our message out, the latest poll shows Kasich’s approval at just 40 percent, making him even LESS popular in Ohio than Gov. Scott Walker is to the people of Wisconsin. Ohioans simply don’t support what John Kasich is trying to do as Governor.
This didn’t happen by accident – it happened because Ohioans like you stood up and made your voices heard. Ohioans like you wrote letters to the editor, talked to friends and neighbors, attended rallies and more. And when you spoke out, our message resonated with the people of Ohio.
You have made a huge difference so far. Help us continue to get our message out.
Today, Gov. Kasich will release his administration’s budget. Over the next few weeks, we have perhaps our best chance to show all Ohioans that this is their fight, too. We must make sure the people of our state know that the Republican agenda isn’t just an attack on union members; it is a full-scale assault on all middle class families, students, seniors and more.
In order to get our message out more broadly, . The Ohio Democratic Party is devoting 100 percent of its resources to exposing the Republicans – and we need your help to keep up this fight.
Make no mistake, John Kasich’s budget will hurt nearly all Ohioans, and it is our job to let them know exactly what harm Kasich is trying to do. If we expand our fight, we can create a larger movement and mobilize tens of thousands more Ohioans to take action against John Kasich’s agenda.
Thank you for your dedication to this effort.
Sincerely,
Chris Redfern
Chairman, Ohio Democratic Party
P.S. John Kasich doesn’t want Ohioans to know how devastating his budget is, so he has forbidden the media from broadcasting his budget announcement. Then, he will discuss his budget during an invitation-only event (link to donate to the fight at my site thanks )(A letter to me from the Ohio Democratic Party i'd like to share with you after... more

News Corp.’s $1 million gift to the Republican Governors Association was the result of Rupert Murdoch’s personal friendship with former Fox News host and Ohio gubernatorial hopeful John Kasich, Murdoch told POLITICO Wednesday night.
Murdoch, who was in Washington to receive an award from The Media Institute, brushed aside concerns that the gift, which was unusually large and one-sided for a media company, might hurt Fox’s credibility as a news organization that reports on politics.
“It doesn’t reflect on Fox News,” he said. “It had nothing to do with Fox News. The RGA [gift] was actually [a result of] my friendship with John Kasich.”
Last month, the Democratic Governors Association filed a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission accusing Fox News of making an illegal in-kind donation to Kasich by running a chyron featuring Kasich’s website while he was on “The O’Reilly Factor” soliciting donations, the Huffington Post reported.
But the DGA has also made hay of the controversial gift, using it as a rallying cry to raise $1 million of their own.
This gift, together with another $1 million News Corp. gift to the GOP-friendly U.S. Chamber of Commerce, has given Fox’s critics their strongest ammunition to date for arguing that the channel is not an objective observer, as it claims, but a player in the political process.
Because of this, some have speculated that News Corp. never intended the gifts to become public.
Murdoch told POLITICO that this was half-right.
“The RGA we did,” expect to become public, he said. “We didn’t expect the other one.”
News Corp.’s donation over the summer to the Chamber was reported by POLITICO’s Ben Smith last week. The chamber has been one of the biggest spenders against Democrats in this election cycle, having already spent nearly $7 million on ads in favor of GOP Senate candidates, making it the second-biggest spending national group after the RGA.
“We are members of the Chamber of Commerce, and I just thought I was being a good member,” Murdoch said.
While News Corp has a political action committee that donates to both parties, the amounts are a fraction of the $2 million given to the two groups spending to defeat Democrats.
In the wake of the RGA gift, a News Corp spokesman had a ready explanation, saying that “News Corporation believes in the power of free markets, and the RGA’s pro-business agenda supports our priorities at this most critical time for our economy.”
But the day the story of the Chamber donation broke, spokesmen from both Fox News and the News Corp. declined to comment. for more info http://figrd.blogspot.comNews Corp.’s $1 million gift to the Republican Governors Association was the... more
