2012 was supposed to be the year of The Dark Knight Rises. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which in my opinion, is one of the 25 best films of all time, left an indelible mark on cinema. But, following it up with the next chapter in the series was going to be a daunting task.
Dating as far back as 2009, I feared that The Dark Knight Rises would, like many third parts to a trilogy, drop in quality. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were minor miracles. They were films that redefined the superhero film from popcorn summer fun to a more serious tone with Oscar possibilities. And, of course, we all know about Heath Ledger’s once-in-a-life-time performance as the Joker....2012 was supposed to be the year of The Dark Knight Rises. Christopher Nolan’s... more

There is no better person to speak with after Comic-Con, the world’s largest pop-culture convention, than Los Angeles Times writer Geoff Boucher. His Hero Complex blog has become a must-read for those attending “the Con” and he fills us in on all the big news coming out of this year’s show. Boucher also discusses his professional and somewhat personal relationship with producer Richard Zanuck who unexpectedly passed away last week at the age of 77.There is no better person to speak with after Comic-Con, the world’s largest... more

Woke up this morning to read about Rush Limbaugh raging about the origins of "Bain" -- I mean "BANE" -- the supervillain played by Tom Hardy in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. Bane was created by Tampa Bay comic book writer Chuck Dixon, himself a pretty arch-conservative who thinks Limbaugh just went off the deep end. My connection to all this? The very first Mr. Media video interview ever starred Dixon back in 2007. Hope you'll check it out! http://www.mrmedia.com/2007/07/chuck-dixon-the-simpsons-comic-book-writer-mr-media-interview-pt-1/Woke up this morning to read about Rush Limbaugh raging about the origins of... more

Some of the criteria judged was an interest in watching the trailer multiple times, peeking our interest in watching the film, as well as leaving the viewer feeling entertained by the trailer alone. Originality, music choice and length also did factor in. We also took into account how much of the movie the trailer may have spoiled. While the trailers for Drive and Tucker And Dale vs. Evil, were both incredibly entertaining, they also showed far too many of the best moments from the films.
