Since quitting the Republican presidential primary race, Cain has been releasing videos for his PAC, S.O.S. (Sick of Stimulus), and each one has been more gruesome than the previous. He killed a goldfish, sacrificed some cute bunnies, and now he’s using a farmer being eaten alive by chickens to symbolize “the average American taxpayer feeding big government.”

"Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?" harkens back to the bad old days when careers and lives were ruined by Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy, an alcoholic, demagogic Senator from Wisconsin. His bullying excesses caused far worse damage to the nation than the most evil of Communists ever did. Rep. Allen West has now begun channeling Fail Gunner Joe as a sop to extremists."Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?" harkens... more

Saturday Night Live joined in on the “Newt Gingrich loves the moon” fun in its latest episode.
With his bid of becoming President of the United States no longer possible, SNL’s Gingrich is now president of the lunar world in 2014, providing him sweet redemption for those who ridiculed his “out of this world” idea.

Newt Gingrich has an ego as big as all outdoors, or at least a big as Donald Trump’s. He’s a historian with only a nodding acquaintance with text book history and his own self-professed place in it. The other thing Newt has is a propensity for pissing people off. People like voters and political allies in his own party. While this isn’t an altogether useless skill in an election, it isn’t so great when a President has to work with people rather than through them. If cockroaches will survive nuclear holocaust Newt will be right there tossing garbage to them.Newt Gingrich has an ego as big as all outdoors, or at least a big as Donald... more

Conservative MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said on Sunday that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s thumping of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in South Carolina Saturday showed that the Republican base was “revolting” against the party establishment.
During a round table discussion on NBC’s Meet the Press, Chuck Todd explained that Gingrich’s win was “about Mitt Romney.”
“He hasn’t made the sale to conservatives,” Todd observed. “And losing in South Carolina, he can’t dismiss it. This is the heart and soul of the conservative movement, the folks that show up at telephones, that knock on the doors — and he doesn’t have their support.”
“There’s no doubt about it,” Scarborough agreed. “The party base is revolting, but they are revolting against the Washington Republican establishment anointing Mitt Romney.”
“Just like Herman Cain was not about Herman Cain. It was a rejection of Mitt Romney. Rick Perry, a rejection of Mitt Romney. Michele Bachmann, a rejection of Mitt Romney. Newt Gingrich wave one, a rejection of Mitt Romney. Now we have Newt Gingrich wave two, a rejection of Mitt Romney.”
Scarborough continued: “Mitt Romney could attack Newt for not being a conservative because Newt is not a conservative. Google it! We [Republicans] ran him out of Congress in 1998 because he sold us out on taxes, he sold us out on spending, he went to the floor and he sided with Democrats on his last speech, calling us the perfectionists caucus. He called us jihadists. He’s not a conservative, he’s an opportunist. But here is the problem: So is Mitt Romney.”

Ads for his political campaign might not have appeared on local television, but his pseudo-presidential bid has certainly been a hit on the Internet, and his video advertisements have even been included on national news shows.
And tomorrow, Stephen Colbert is taking his “Cain for President” campaign right to the people with an event at the College of Charleston.
Billed the “Rock Me Like a Herman Cain: South Cain-olina Primary Rally,” the event starts at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Cistern by Randolph Hall. Entrance to the area begins at noon.
The national historic landmark faces northwest off of St. Philip St, between Calhoun and George Sts (see campus map).
"Herman is the only former candidate who truly shares my values,” Colbert said in a press release. “It's like our values were separated at birth. And our ethics are at least first cousins."
The release also insinuates Cain himself will also appear.
Describing the event on last night’s episode of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, the Charleston native said “there will be speeches, there will be cheerleaders, there will be a marching band and a gospel band.”

Even though he can't get his name on the ballot, Stephen Colbert hasn't given up on making a last-minute entry into South Carolina's Republican presidential primary.
He's just using another name instead.
Yes, the latest video ad by the comedian and Charleston native pictures Colbert, but while using Herman Cain's name.
And who else will South Carolinans have to choose from, asks the video? "He's such a Washington outsider, he's not even running for president!"

Before we close the WHACKO-TV studios and head on out for that big New Year’s Eve party, we let some of the college interns put together a little tribute to 2011. Being of a noir nature and attempting to use a drained lake as the metaphor for the close of a tough year, they presented this to our staff. We thought it was a bit much, but we were impressed they shot it on film at 24 frames a second, which is more retro than video. Who paid for the damn film? We just wanted to wish everyone in the viewing audience a HAPPY NEW YEAR; onward to better things in 2012.Before we close the WHACKO-TV studios and head on out for that big New Year’s... more

Let’s not muddle the messaging by suggesting Cain failed because of unconventionality. He broke under the weight of his own conventionalism. Even innocent of the allegations, some of his most damning character flaws showed through very clearly in his responses. His only failure in “unconventionalism” was lack of the necessary political savvy to slap the right lipstick on the right pig at the right time. Sadly, we have too much of that conventionality at hand. If only more candidates would collapse from such a lack of savvy.Let’s not muddle the messaging by suggesting Cain failed because of... more
