Tuna fishing has screeched to a halt aboard the South Seas, as engine trouble leaves the crew drifting helplessly in open waters. The boat’s skipper, Paul, sends out a mayday call to fellow longline boat the Santo Rocco, which turns out to be some 15 hours away. Instead Skipper Paul calls on a closer boat, the Gracie P—but the rescue effort won’t come cheap. In return for towing the South Seas safely back to port, the Gracie P will lay claim to any fish on Skipper Paul’s line, plus get reimbursed for fuel.
