Barack Obama wrote a memorandum about Transparency and Open Government on January 21, 2009. In this memorandum he re-iterates his campaign pledge to be the most transparent administration. Transparency and open government have many meanings and applications. However, if you and/or a group of your friends decides to visit your representative for a peaceful visit, you may have the police called on you. That's where the trespassing part of this story comes in.
Lexington representatives from MoveOn.org and Carl Gibson from US Uncut asked me to be present with my cameras as they attempted to talk to Mitch McConnell at his office in Lexington, Kentucky. This was to be a peaceful protest with picket signs, chants and songs. Regardless, there was a concern that the police would be called and the members felt that the presence of cameras would work in their favor. I wasn't sure why there would be a concern but I agreed to report on the event.

http://www.yUS Uncut, in collaboration with The Ruckus Society and Brass Liberation Orchestra (BLO), kicked off Tax Day weekend (Friday afternoon 4/15/11) in San Francisco with a flashmob at Bank of America and told them to "PAY UP!"
Bank of America is the #1 largest bank and the 5th largest corporation in the U.S., but it pays less in taxes than the average American household! If they and their corporate tax dodger friends paid their fair share of taxes (like the rest of us), we wouldn't 'need' to slash community services in the budget.
It's time Bank of America pays their taxes! So we took action to tell them just that.
Dozens of activists took Bank of America employees by surprise downtown San Francisco Friday, by breaking out in a song and dance in the middle of the bank, to the tune of Salt-n-Pepa's classic hit, "Push It", re-mixed as "Pay Up!"
Check out the list of actions against Corporate Tax Dodgers happening around the country this Monday (http://usuncut.org/actions/list) and join a Tax Day action near you!
*Many thanks to our partners at The Ruckus Society for support throughout this action and for this action report!

500,000 people took to the streets Saturday in protest to more than $130 Billion in cuts proposed by the coalition government.
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/03/27/london-protests-government-cuts/
"The crowd at yesterday’s protest — the major march organized by the Trades Union Congress — was as diverse as the cuts people came out to rally against. On the streets, firefighters wearing ‘Cuts cost lives’ shirts, a ‘book block’ of 20-somethings wielding large pink cardboard books as shields, kids on parents’ shoulders, and loads of homemade signs: ‘Give me back my future,’ ‘Stop teabagging the public sector,’ and ‘Hands off — the NHS is ours’ were just a few
Local budgets are being slashed by up to 30 percent, leading to cuts in child care, public safety, programs for retirees, and library closures — and an increasing privatization of the popular, publicly-funded National Health Services.
“Women, parents, carers, disabled people, teenagers and elderly people” are likely to be hardest hit, reported the Guardian in a study of the cuts’ devastating impact. On top of services, the job losses are expected to be enormous. Amidst the UK’s current record 17-year unemployment high, the cuts will mean a loss of 490,000 public sector jobs.
While the line that played out in the media focused on a small minority of protesters throwing paint and smashing windows, the vast majority were parents, students, health care workers, and union members there to voice their anger about the cuts. The real power of the day came from its dual nature: both the smaller groups ready to take more direct action combined with the strength in the numbers and stories of ordinary people standing up to say ‘no more.’ Their half-a-million strong presence in London’s streets yesterday gave rise to the feeling amongst many that this is just the beginning of something much larger."
Thom Hartmann writes "Front and center in the protests was the UK Uncut movement - that targets corporate tax dodgers. The organization's counterpart in the United States - US Uncut - also held demonstrations across our country at more than 40 Bank of American branches on Saturday. The entire world is rejecting corporate tax cuts paid for by spending cuts that screw working families.
And here in the US - while we may be getting a late start - more and more people are standing up against John Boehner and the Republicans radical agenda to devastate the middle class - and sell our nation out to transnational corporations."
We must stand together realizing the gap between the rich and the poor is tearing at the very fabric of our world. We are all in this struggle together, stand up and be loud.
The Revolution is begun.
