The Texas Miracle? Maybe it depends on perspective. I don’t think so, but maybe.
A Texas Miracle? Only if racism, minimum wage jobs, food insecurity, a lack of healthcare insurance, and high school dropouts, and a burgeoning prison-industrial complex constitute a miracle.
This depression we’re in isn’t the first. Since 1980 we’ve had eleven recessions. That’s scary. For the two hundred years that capitalist extremists have manipulated public policy, politics and elections this nation has experienced cyclical recessions and depressions.The Texas Miracle? The Texas Miracle? Really? The “Texas” Miracle? Seriously?
Back in the day when those of my generation encountered a condition that looked very busy---a Rube Goldberg contraption for example---but unlike Goldberg’s contraptions accomplished little we referred to it as a circle jerk. Though it looks busy, it does little. So it is with the state’s GOPer dominated politics, elections and public policy. If anything it is an intertwined, downward spiraling circle jerk.

Workers continue to suffer. Holly Sklar points out what is true about job creation in this country in general, and what wages have become, an enslavement to the middle class and the poor. This enslavement is caused by the loss of income on a real level when adjusted for inflation since the 1960s. because of that, households NEED two incomes to stay current with their parents era of cost of living and prosperity. This leads to other problems in the breakdown of families, reduced health care, education, and economic growth for the country. The rich continue to syphon off the wealth of the nation, as the income disparity is the highest of any OECD country.
