A great penultimate episode of 'Find My Past'. This episode focus on The tay Bridge Disaster. Three people find their connection to the Tay Bridge disaster. Opened in early 1878, the Tay Bridge was the world’s longest bridge at two miles from bank to bank. It greatly reduced the rail journey from Dundee to London. On 28 December 1879, a gale was blowing down the estuary and the bridge could not withstand the force. A section collapsed, taking a passenger train with it into the icy waters of the Tay; drowning all 75 people on board.

About the episode
The mutiny on the Bounty was a mutiny that occurred aboard the British Royal Navy ship HMS Bounty on 28 April 1789. The mutiny was led by Fletcher Christian against the commanding officer, William Bligh. According to most accounts, the sailors were attracted to the idyllic life on the Pacific island of Tahiti and repelled by the harsh treatment of their captain. Eighteen mutineers set Lieutenant Bligh and 18 of the 22 crew loyal to him afloat in a small boat. Mutineers then settled on Pitcairn Island or in Tahiti. The Bounty was subsequently burned off Pitcairn Island to avoid detection and to prevent desertion. Descendants of some of the mutineers and Tahitians still live on Pitcairn island.Find My Past the TV show continues exploring on different major historical events.... more

'Find My Past', a news series that each week takes three people on a journey to discover how they are related to someone from a major historical event, the next episode is explores The Battle of Britain.
As Germany launched a massive aerial offensive over Britain during World War II, the RAF became embroiled in a sustained daily battle to prevent the Luftwaffe from gaining control of the British skies. This is the story of the famous “Few” who were all that stood between Britain and certain defeat. It was a combined effort from every branch of the RAF and it hinged on a tight network of command centres across Britain that intercepted German messages to build a picture of planned enemy bombing raids. This information was then used to determine intercept points where British fighters could engage the German bombers and attempt to bring them down before they reached their targets with their deadly payloads.
