Switch hit Mitt Romney has a good reason for concentrating on his experience with Bain Capital, despite vulnerability to attack, because of his history as a corporate raider there. He prefers, anything over getting into his record as governor of Massachusetts. Somewhere in the depths of the joint planning between the GOP and the corporate PACS, that isn’t supposed to exist, is a Republican with a conscience. He or she prevented the Ricketts Plan, a racially based attack on Barack Obama, planned to coincide with the Democratic Convention, from being carried out. He or she did so by leaking the plan and deserves our thanks. Ricketts is lying through his teeth, and RMoney is etching his sketch so fast that the plastic knobs are on fire.Somewhere in the depths of the joint planning between the GOP and the corporate PACS,... more

Ron Paul will not compete in any upcoming primaries, according to a release sent out to reporters this afternoon, though the campaign will continue its work in selecting delegates to send to the convention.
"Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process," Paul said in a statement from his campaign. "We will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support."
Paul isn't dropping out, however: "We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future."
The upshot, however, is that Paul's intense supporters have failed to rally in the numbers required to make a dent at the polls, and his campaign is saving both money and face by ending his primary bid.
Here's Paul's full statement:
As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.
This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.
Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.
Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.
I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved - become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.Ron Paul will not compete in any upcoming primaries, according to a release sent out... more

He certainly has earned the titles Multiple Mitt and Mr. Etch-a-Sketch. As anticipated Switch Hit Mitt is trying to recreate himself yet again. Last week, he claimed he would have endorsed the bin Laden raid, despite having repeatedly said that he opposes such raids. If that wasn’t sufficiently absurd, now he wants credit for saving the auto industry that he said should go bankrupt. He certainly has earned the titles Multiple Mitt and Mr. Etch-a-Sketch. As... more

I bet most of you remember that during a 2008 campaign rally for John McCain, a woman who had fallen for one of the standard GOP lies, called Obama an Arab. McCain, who had so many character defects that I nicknamed him McConJob, at least had the integrity and character to stand up against the hate speech. On the other hand, in similar incidents during events featuring Sarah Palin, aka Drill Baby Dingbat, she catered to the hate-speakers. Mitt Romney has demonstrated that he is a Palin, not a McCain.I bet most of you remember that during a 2008 campaign rally for John McCain, a woman... more

Republicans have a history that clearly demonstrates who they represent, what they favor, and how competent they are to govern. Because of this, the political elephants must forget that history and act as though a different set of facts had occurred. One example is that the party that brought us 9/11 claims that their policies against terrorism have succeeded, while those of the party that brought the perpetrator of 9/11 to justice, have failed.Republicans have a history that clearly demonstrates who they represent, what they... more

We’re getting close to the time to start tracking the Presidential race on a state by state basis, so here’s a suggestion regarding some key states to watch. So far, Obama appears to be ahead in all of them, but that is no excuse for overconfidence. How many of us thought that there was no way America could be so stupid as to let Bush close enough to steal the election in 2004?We’re getting close to the time to start tracking the Presidential race on a... more

If you’re planning to protest at the Republican National Convention in Tampa from 8/27 to 8/30, please take extreme care to avoid conflict with the local minions of InsaniTEA there. I coined the nickname Switch Hit Mitt for Romney, because he bats from both sides of every plate. In other words, he has positioned himself absolutely and irrevocably on both sides of every issue. Now that his nomination is virtually guaranteed, he will be trying to etch his sketch leftward, as far as he can, without completely offending the extremist hatemongers, to whom the Republican party has chosen to pander. As he does, the best tactic we can use to to define him using the positions that he staked out himself to win the extremist vote. Fortunately, it appears that is what the Obama campaign is doing.I coined the nickname Switch Hit Mitt for Romney, because he bats from both sides of... more

Switch Hit Mitt is shopping for a VP candidate, and I think he has a hard choice to make. If he choses a Neocon/Corporacon/Plutocon candidate with comparatively moderate social views, like Condi Rice, he’ll offend the rabid Theocon/InsaniTEA wings. On the other hand, if he picks a social fascist like McDonald, he’ll turn off swing voters.Switch Hit Mitt is shopping for a VP candidate, and I think he has a hard choice to... more

Mitt Romney has demonstrated his inability to relate to Main Street Americans time and time again. That is understandable, given his silver spoon. He relates to Banksters and corporate criminals, because he was one. But even in a hand-picked group of Pennsylvania Republicans, he not only could not relate, but also, was haughty and offensive about it.Mitt Romney has demonstrated his inability to relate to Main Street Americans time and... more

On rare occasions, I see rank and file people on the left calling for violence as a political solution. Whenever I do, I criticize it sharply. However, I have never seen such vile behavior from a leader in the Democratic party, or from someone publicly promoted by a Democratic candidate. That is a Republican tactic, one that we have seen over and over again, from a broad assortment of Republican politicians and pundits. But Ted Nugent has Switch Hit Mitt, who bats from both sides of every plate, in a quandary. He does not like the criticism he is getting as a result, but he does not want to offend the many hate-centered people to whom the Republican Party has pandered to cultivate their support. On rare occasions, I see rank and file people on the left calling for violence as a... more

Multiple Mitt Romney has been squirming to extricate himself from the disastrous effects of the Republican War on Women. To that end, he has tried to take advantage of a poorly worded statement by Hillary Rosen. Romney says that stay-at-home moms are working women, and I agree. However which Mitt says that? As always, there is another Mitt that says the exact opposite.Multiple Mitt Romney has been squirming to extricate himself from the disastrous... more

It's time to take a serious look at what Mitt Romney really stands for. These are some of the important things to consider.
1. Romney's positions are the most radically anti-women of any candidate in a generation: He supports banning all abortions, backed a so-called "personhood" amendment that could make certain forms of birth control illegal, and says he would "get rid of" federal funding for Planned Parenthood that provides preventive services like cancer screenings for millions of women.
2. Romney would repeal Obamacare. Insurance companies would once again be allowed to run up premiums, unjustifiably deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, drop patients when they get sick, discriminate against women by charging them more for coverage than men, and spend more of your premium dollars on CEO profits and bonuses instead of your actual health care.
3. Romney is a risk when it comes to foreign policy and national security. On many of these questions, he has shifted his position for political reasons, even within the same campaign. His only clear commitment is to endless wars: He has no plan to end the war in Afghanistan and would leave our troops there indefinitely. He called the President's decision to bring our troops home from Iraq by last Christmas "tragic."
4. Despite the lessons of recent history, Romney would double down on the disastrous tax policies that handed windfalls to the wealthy, but stacked the deck against the middle class. Under Romney, millionaires and billionaires would get a $250,000 tax cut, while families with kids making less than $40,000 a year would, on average, actually see their taxes go up. To the surprise of no one, Romney also opposes the Buffett Rule. He would allow millionaires to continue to take advantage of loopholes and special deals that often allow them to pay a lower tax rate than the middle class. And he supports tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.
5. Romney would end Medicare as we know it -- replacing it with a voucher scheme that would drive profits for insurance companies by forcing seniors to purchase private insurance, paying whatever costs a voucher wouldn't cover out of their own limited budgets. It's time to take a serious look at what Mitt Romney really stands for. Much of the attention in the Republican primary race has focused on the continual stream of lies from Multiple Mitt Romney, who has firmly and irrevocably established his stance on both sides of most issues. However, it would be less that honest not to point out that Rick Santorum is no better. The best description I van find for Mitt Romney’s victory is that he bought it by outspending Rick Santorum 7 to 1. The big surprise is that perennial loser, Ron Paul, actually eked out a very distant third place over straw candidate Newt Gingrich, who did not even bother to campaign. As with other Republican contests, this one was also an insanely managed zoo.The best description I van find for Mitt Romney’s victory is that he bought it... more

I’ve been watching the Republican Party campaign clown show with a growing sense of amazement that any group could be so thoroughly disorganized. Not all the results in the Republican primaries and caucuses went as expected, but all the candidates were losers, because all fell short of what they needed to accomplish. Mitt Romney did the best overall, but he failed to win one in the south and close the door on Santorum. Rick Santorum had a couple of impressive wins, but to put himself into the thick of the race, he needed to win Ohio. Newt Gingrich won his home state, but he needed at least one more, Of course, the biggest loser of all is Ron Paul who still has not won a single primary or caucus. Not all the results in the Republican primaries and caucuses went as expected, but all... more
