So brave Zerlina Maxwell appeared on Fox News, on international women's day, saying men need to be taught not to rape women, vs. oh let's say, give all women gunz to protect them from rapists (who never have guns them selves, right?)
What did she get for her troubles? That's right, rape threats. Lots of them. Stay classy Fox news viewers, you continue to lead by example.
From the article:
“I knew going in I was going to get a lot of pushback,” Maxwell says. “I didn't think I would receive rape threats. I can’t even go on my Facebook page; it’s full of people wanting to rape me. It’s too triggering. The amount of insensitivity is shocking.”

The latest example of the GOP RAPE FETISH is a new bill introduced in New Mexico – by a woman, no less – that would classify an abortion following a rape as “tampering with evidence.” Yes, you read that right. Should a woman be raped and find herself pregnant as a result of that rape, she would be required to carry the pregnancy to term as evidence of the sexual assault...

Here's the latest, and biggest, steamy pile of manure to come from the Todd Akin campaign.
From Politico:
Rep. Todd Akin is out with a new ad featuring a supporter who says she was raped and had an abortion.
Akin, who is trying to unseat Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill in Missouri, found his campaign in turmoil and faced a wave of criticism after an August television interview where he suggested that women rarely become pregnant after a “legitimate rape.”
In the ad, a woman named Kelly says she is a single mother, and “a woman who has had an abortion, I’ve been raped in the past.”
“The reason I’m voting for Todd and I’m so proud of him is because he defends the unborn. He’s a kind man, he’s a compassionate man, he has so much integrity,” she says.
Rick Tyler, a spokesman for Akin, would not comment on the placement of the ads or which markets they would be running in. McCaskill has maintained a steady 5- to 6-point lead in most recent Missouri polls, although Akin’s campaign says the race is much closer.
“The latest public poll by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch … had Todd 2 points behind Claire McCaskill,” Tyler told POLITICO on Wednesday. “That’s remarkable considering she has spent a record amount for Missouri on negative advertising. She has thrown the kitchen sink at Todd yet we are even.”
While national Republican committees have insisted they would not be spending money on the race after Akin’s comments, his campaign and the Missouri Republican Party are launching a nearly $700,000 TV ad blitz in the final days of the election.
It is unclear if any of the national committees provided the funds for the advertising. Here's the latest, and biggest, steamy pile of manure to come from the Todd Akin... more

Last week, Congressman Paul Broun (R-Lunatic, GA) pronounced evolution, embryology, and the Big Bang theory, “lies straight from the pit of hell”. It would be easy to dismiss him as a crazed crackhead. After all, there are a lot of them in Congress. But there are two things that make his ravings particularly scaryLast week, Congressman Paul Broun (R-Lunatic, GA) pronounced evolution, embryology,... more

So, more tax evasion from the right. Surprise, surprise. Must be taking cues from Romney and his sidekick, Lyin’ Ryan.

Under the “Client Responsibilities,” meaning women seeking child care, those women must prove that they have exhausted every avenue in trying to obtain child support from the father, unless, of course, that father happens to be a rapist. But now, they must take the extra step to prove that their rape was, in fact, a “forcible rape”...

Now we have a new quote to add to the list, courtesy of one George Engelbach, a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives, who showed up at the Republican National Convention, dressed like Abraham Lincoln, and spoke to Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! Somebody, slip this guy a Mickey, STAT!

It’s been quite the roller coaster ride since Todd Akin and others hauled off and began spilling the beans on the Republican’s true nature regarding women and their reproductive systems. According to Akin, women have the magical ability to “shut that whole thing down” in regard to getting pregnant by rape…much like ducks, apparently

Admittedly, not all Republican hilarity is calculated, though it is predictable when they keep pushing buffoons forward to present policy babble. And I love the pre-convention chatter, spending millions to make the Etch-a-Sketch Changeling warmer, even a tad lovable. Fat chance. While Romney-Ryan curiosities come fast and furious, they aren’t the only damaging blows to the New Extremism Party. There’s Todd Akin, a crazed Lubbock county judge, and an oldie but goodie mortification from last summer reported this week. What! Sacrilege at a holy land-holy site by holier-than-thou House members, per this juicy Politico headline:

Politicians love throwing the book, the Bible, and bullshit science at women. From Moscow to Missouri, the war on the female of the species that taken us back to 1952 has become much too popular for the pussies of the world to keep quiet.

Consider the psychological aspects of rape: it is about domination, humiliation, control, and brutal degradation. For such a man to have controlling interests in the life of a child spawned by his brutality is heinous and reprehensible.
Consideration should also be given to children fathered through acts of incest, and pedophilia; these two are often interrelated. In such instances, the Akin/Ryan law could grant indisputable custody to men who already have a sexual predilection for children, and would place the children of the children they raped squarely under their control.

There is a growing element of willful ignorance carrying the day. Rep. Todd Akins (R-MO) spouted his now infamous lines about women's bodies being able to correct the effects of "legitimate rape" and then said he 'misspoke'. Nothing could be further from the truth. He truly believes every ignorant word. There is a growing element of willful ignorance carrying the day. Rep. Todd Akins... more
