I thought yesterday I’d said all I needed to say on this topic… But, I woke up this morning, and I read the headlines,
* Man fires 50 shots in parking lot
* Alabama. police kill shooting suspects
* Friday's shooting in Connecticut.
* And Friday's thwarted plan of a teenager to blow up his high school.
*Death threat phone into Newtown Church
*Indiana Man arrested w 47 guns after school threat
Even since I recorded the video earlier today, the headlines continue. I realized that the problem wasn't so much a matter of politicians controlling guns. That's part of it for sure-- But superseding that-- The problem we are facing as a society, is a disintegration of natural loving expression.
We are more connected than ever by the internet, by social media, by our smart-phones.
But the ease with which we can connect in these artificial ways is no substitute for real face to face love and hugs. I think this disconnect goes beyond just connecting with those who are close-- but to those on the fringe.
The people who may become tomorrow's headlines. They are the ones who need our love the most.
These are crazy, crazy times. And maybe, just maybe we have reached a tipping point.
Holiday or no holiday, we need to just give our love.
Everyone needs to give as much love as you can, to everybody you know.
especially those people going through tough times-- So they don't turn into crazy people.
That said: Earth to POLITICIANS: Find a compromise: Require mental health screenings for new gun-owners.
Earth to CRAZY PEOPLE: You're not crazy yet, you're just going through a bad patch.
Come hang out with me, or Skype if you can't make it in person. The internet is certainly a 2nd best option-
and I wanna do whatever I can--- to talk you out of whatever you're thinking of doing.
We'll write a song together or make a painting.
Or you can just say names to my face on Google+.
P.S. TO POLITICIANS: Funding for the arts creates a well-rounded society, bringing down the population of crazy people. As I always say, “cancer cures smoking, why don’t carnage cure war?”
Middle East Cafe, Mary Lou Lord-- Out of the Blue, shame on you. You can call it whatever you want-- but it is still CENSORSHIP.
Thank you to all of you who have privately reached out to me. This holiday season, and every season, give all the love you can give- especially to the crazy people... because they're not crazy yet-- we just haven't shown 'em enough love!
Peace be with you and much love!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv-1lbFYaps
