i grew up on computer games. the TI 994a was my first computer. i remember wondering/arguing if radio shack or t.i was best. games have always been about conflict on the computer (even pong)... well actually in life too i guess, not just here. irl games usually are about conflict. really thinking that video games will cause violence seems absurd to me. violent people will use whatever excuse they care too to be violent. and people who try too hard too "understand" them just empower them by getting side tracked into "it's all rock n roll's fault" er i mean video games. wrong! i think its wage slavery. with strangers and the trustworthy media raising our children is it no wonder we see such extremes as the war on communism oh er i mean terrorism (i get my isms confused sorry) being viewed as right and proper and a rise in youth violence? consider it. it's not the hobby but the lack of parenting. and it's not the parents fault for trying to pay the bills and the national war debts. but to blame games or books or other outside influences seems a cop out. that being said i wish that the violence and graphic detail in video games and television would tone it down a few notches.

Speaking as someone who was addicted to WoW for more than a year, games can be really harmful. But by and large, they give more than they take.

I think they can even be a great educational tools. Plus, the Sims make great music videos.
