Facebook users feel that their privacy is being compromised when Facebook displays what purchases they've made online. Some users miss the warning and the opportunity to opt-out of the program.

The main problem with social networks is how they make money. There are only a handful of ways to make money when you run one of these things; number one being advertising.

On my Facebook page I get a ton of relevant ads. The reason they're so relevant is because they're pulling certain keywords (i.e. what my music taste is and my interests) and using some algorithm to place a ads that appeal to me. I feel that to be completely ok. I think it's a very effective method and I've clicked through on such ads.

I don't like the fact that they're using me to advertise for them based on places I shop online. I get nothing out of this deal. Even if I have really bad shopping experience at, say, Newegg, my friends are still going to see that I bought a Hard Drive from them. I don't want to promote bad experiences, or Newegg for that matter. If I was offered 10% off anything I purchased in order for the ad to appear in my friends' feed, of course I would do it, but at this time it doesn't work that way.
