Users Complain, Facebook Listens

Facebook is giving it's user more control over the site's controversial new advertisement system that recently drew a lot of complaints about privacy issues. Now the system has an "opt-in" requirement for users wishing to participate in the new ad system. Can someone please explain to me the logic of opting IN???

    • Does facebook listen? We have been trying to get the group 'dead babies make me laugh' removed from facebook because the material they have put up is more than just offensive. How can facebook ban pictures of mothers breastfeeding and yet allow a group to continue whilst they post up offensive materials that a paedophile would be proud of? It's a disgrace that facebook are not accepting social respeonsibility in promoting violence to minors... why is no one listening at facebook..or is it just a virtual facade? Perhaps no one is operating a system to monitor at all..and in that case should facebook be shut down?

    • Snedz, Facebook ignores Sunderland because in this way they can attribute more users in the Newcastle area increasing advertising dollars for themselves.

It really is a manipulation of the numbers thing like the "Nielsen" rating system.

There's probably more money or more of a correct demographic so they falsely boost the numbers in that area so they can (fraudulently) collect more money from advertisers.

I registered with Facebook, but I'm already turned off to it and have absolutely no intention of supporting it.

    • Aww Facebook ruined x-mas: Facebooks new feature, Beacon, broadcasted that this guy had bought a diamond ring.

Why would anyone want the information broadcast on the internet, even it if is just to your friends.

I think that is a lame app.

    • No they dont listen. Never have done & never will. Since I have joined they made my local networking town 'Newcastle' but im not from Newcastle you see, Im from Sunderland. No matter how many times I tell them to create a 'Sunderland' networking group they never do. Theres loads of us now wanting our own town to be represented but still nothing. We have even started a petition & they continue to ignore us.

Another thing. There are heaps of hate groups, especialy against gingers etc. This is disgracefull, how can they host such things & get away with it, I will never know. I still use facebook every day though.
