Anonymity is a very empowering thing to people. It gives them an ability to have a voice and to speak out without fear of direct retribution.
I agree that if someone is doing something illegal they need to be accountable for it. We expect our government leaders to be held accountable, everyone should be accountable for their actions and speech. Anonymity is a tool for speech and change.

Well I think it very much depends on the situation. Unless the blogger's actions are illegal or constitute some sort of threat, I think the blogger's anonymity should be kept, as what valid reason could someone give to request that person's identity?

I don't think the State should be allowed to FORCE someone to reveal their identity.
If the messages became hate filled or abusive then I think the police have every right to make an arrest.
