Scheduled for August, 2008, astronauts will fit the aging HST with new components that will let it see distant galaxies all the way back to about 400 million years after the Big Bang - it'll be like going back in time to take actual pictures of our very early Universe.

    • For the cost of building replacement parts, training astronauts and flying them on the Space Shuttle, an all new, better equipped telescope could have been built.... according to a show I saw on The Science Channel.

I'm not sure if thats true, but it sure does cost a bundle to build/train/fly stuff on a manned spacecraft.

Personally, I'm waiting for the machine that looks the other way... into the future.

    • i forget the actual fact but they say that the universe is 176 billion light years from one side to the other, and even if i'm wrong that's still big g.

i love the hubble, i've been a fan from the beginning, we are not alone and are not the only living planet in a unfathomable measurement of it all.

good find justin, i cant wait to wallpaper the new pics.
