CPR no longer needed?

Saving lives is set to become a hands-free activity due to a new gadget that automatically performs CPR on patients.

The portable machine, named AutoPulse by manufacturer Zoll, consists of a band that wraps around the chest of a patient and can be programmed to squeeze as frequently as an emergency worker would pump with their hands.

    • as a healthcare professional I can assure you this product will never be widely used, or even scarcely used, it will be more of a hassle than its worth, taking valuable time to set up and dismantle, not to mention that there is no way it will be more reliable and accurate than a well trained and experienced professional, people are so lazy these days, making everything machine automated is not wise use of technology and ingenuity, its useless overkill.

    • In 2005 the Medical Field; Citizen CPR Foundation and American Heart Association; changed the guide lines for CPR figuring out the new compression to breath ratio to 30:2.

That means 30 compression to 2 breath cycles.

Somehow they figure out that we need more pumping in the heart (30) than oxygen (2) in the lungs.

      Thanks for the info Simon!
