    • that's such an awesome application; I think an important role that this will play is probably downplaying how much individual cars are used. Enviornmentalist could be happy with this application if it becomes well-known enough.

    • @ Jordi

The reason Carpool works so well is that you can learn more about the person who is offering the ride, see if they are a friend of a friend etc.

      No?

    • OK -- this was really a trip to watch! I recognized some of the locations in the shots and was glad to see UCSB in all its bike-loop glory. Other UCSB cameos include the shots of Macs in the language lab as well as the cool shot of the bike tunnel on the border of UCSB and Isla Vista - which was definitely my favorite shot in the pod. It was also nice to see a Gaucho alumn doing well for himself. I hope the application really takes off. Personally, I am not afraid to give it a try because I feel confident in my ability to defend myself. However, I can understand why someone like Jordi would be hesitant to share a ride with a stranger. I guess each individual user will have to determine whether the convenience is worth the risk. I wonder-- is there a rating system? For example, if they were 10 minutes late, or if their car was smelly, or if they were smelly, would you be able to make note of that in order to benefit other users in the future?

    • In the vein of "when I went to school I walked 20 miles in the snow uphill and barefoot...." let me tell you kids that I'm sorry to inform you but you did not invent this idea. We had a carpool communication tool too when I was in college and needed a ride home....it was called the "college community bulletin board" and the "through the grapevine communication tool." In other words, we talked to people and asked who was going where and checked the main bulletin board on campus for notices of rides. Maybe that's why more young people today are heavier than we were....they never leave their PC's for anything anymore (except of course to catch the ride they found on FaceBook!)

    • this pod clearly demonstrates that we we are in the "myspace" and "facebook generation." It is now a platform utilized for so many purposes...Facebook is amazing! I love it....

But I never knew about the carpooling thing...I think that's so amazing and awesome!!

    • I think this was an excellent pod! I might even try this application one day--I didn't even know it was around. I agree with above posters who encouraged to double check profiles. I wouldn't want to be getting a ride from someone with a horrible driving record but it looks like it works well when you showed Tam and his ride. Great work!

    • This is kind of cool, but kind of creepy too. I wouldn't trust someone I don't know to drive me home. I feel like if someone gets hurt doing this, FB could be sued! Not only that, but this was shot very "MTV-esque" I was surprised to not find any dutch angles or slam zooms. Aside from that, it's a good Current pod!! It made air, so mad props to you.

    • I think this is a great idea. Allowing people to review their rides seems like a perfect way to ride comfortably and make friends with people they may never interact with.

    • Facebook is now based in Palo Alto to take advantage of Silicon Valley but it was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 when he was a student at Harvard Univeristy.

    • are you sure that it was made for Harvard students? I am not too sure about that because the site is based and was created in Palo Alto which is a connecting city to Stanford (as in the University). That seems like a far distance from the origin of the website to the intended university.

    • Very informative and well made pod.
Though conducting interviews while driving seems like a risky move. The narrator must be a very busy man.
