You should definitely check out the documentary 'Good Copy, Bad Copy', to be watched online, for free as well.

It deals with the same topic but on a global level, checking the Nollywood movie industry, Brazilian bootleggers, interviewing the guy from Pirate Bay, etc. etc. Must-see material!

Basically it's all about creative commons nowadays, isn't it?

Fantastic pod, it's a very clear and balanced in my opinion. I think our generation is very open to the ideas of piracy most of us comprehend the concept of being fair to artists and writers.

That's true about the humor in this vid. The CEO jumps out of no where, and uses chuck-nun-chucks. . . (oh, i barely got that). How can someone segway effortletly into that.

What's more, how can that possibly be un-funny. I mean come on. He jumps out of no where. And he hits them with two chucks tied together. . . . and he yells "you've got to pay more than that."

Heh, heh, heh. . . . A for effort?

Of course, I remember Bill Nye's show.
I also recall a sad rip-off on CBS with some guy wearing a rat nose. The thing about Nye was that he integrated the humor effortlessly into the show and it was tailor-made for kids. It fit in with the overall flow of the show.

This is worthy of airtime, to be sure. There's a lot here of value to ponder. Those comedic moments take away from the story, though.

I loved the concepts discussed in this pod, and feel that the information is enough of a driving force to keep me interested. I didn't find that the dramatizations added to the pod. Maybe one or two, but there was too much for my tastes. I definitely think that the information is facinating, and that this is a really cool new idea for a pod family in general. Book reviews / book explanations - I don't know if I'll ever read the book, but I now I know a little about the main points in it. Of course, most producers aren't The John Carluccio -- and probably can't make a book come to life like he can. :)

Great piece in discussing piracy and punk capitalism. Although I'm not certain about the origin of the word "Yankee", perhaps if you cite some references that supports Matt's statement? His argument about the progress of nations as being founded on piracy is certainly interesting and relevant (i.e. China). I enjoy the pod a lot and I think the graphics is great. It adds to the piece by being eye-catching and easy to understand. I'm a bit ambivalent about the short skits because I'm not sure they carry the same tone as your interview and/or the transition from humor to seriousness is a bit abrupt. Still, it's a terrific piece in exploring the issue and relevance of piracy in today's society. Great job!

Great piece John! Definitely a huge issue these days, and it's good to see someone approach it with some sense. Hope Brooklyn is treating you well these days.
