For those who still find Maher interesting...enjoy. For others who would like to start making a living again...he appears to be the pompous blowhard.
And his sidekicks, sitting there and yessing him. "That's right sir, that's right." It's not funny. I find that many people who have this forum, begin to really think they are very important. They are only important if they say something that effects change. All the lines are stolen...all the clever things have been said.
And, Paxil and Prozac both take at least 2-3 weeks to kick in...get your pharmaceuticals straight and then start name calling. - 4 years ago

I think if Hillary won the nomination she would have to be stupid (which she's not), not to make Obama her VP. Obama would have to be stupid (which he's not) to not take it. I don't think there's much chance Obama would return the favor for Clinton.
I also think both Obama and Clinton are the same on the issues and have sold us out to the moneyed interests, although Obama gives a much better speech. The best thing about both is that they are better than McCain. That's just not good enough for me.
We need to demand better of the Democrats than what they are offering us. They need to stop running Republican Lite, cut the smoke and mirrors, and do what needs to be done on campaign finance reform, health care, the environment, Iraq, economic inequality and lack of access to good paying jobs, trade issues, full access to quality education through college or trade school, etc. Enough is enough already, and all they're offering on both sides of the political aisle is more talk, less walk.

Obama has lost his lead over McCain.
Hillary Clinton still has a 48-45 lead over McCain in most recent polls.
Superdelegates should vote for who would best lead the country and can win in the general election. That is Hillary Clinton. - 4 years ago

See this is what I am so sick of. This constant insistence that if you don't vote for or support Hillary Clinton your a sexist who hates women. However TouchArt just stated that by electing a "MAN" to the presidency will condemn us all to irrational and violent governance. This stereo typical statement smacks of far more SEXISM than any thing I wrote in my previous posting.
Also i don't know what math your using but I just now pulled up the listed numbers and I am showing a Pledge delegate lead of 171 and a popular vote difference of 717,086 both for Obama so no I don't think any reasonable person would consider that to be any where near a tie. As I stated before it not a matter of convincing the supper delegates to like you , they are not supposed to be an elite that is above or separate from the wishes of there party members, they are there to reinforce the will of the majority regardless of how slim it may be to show the support of the Party for those members who make up said majority.
Now as far as whether or not there was any impropriety involved in the donations Obama received all you offer is conjecture and opinion without proof or even real evidence. Any one on the other hand can look at Hillary Clinton's history and see a very clear connection to some of the major companies that many americans are currently frustrated with, like her work for wall mart which has so many detractors and critics i will not take up space here reiterating them. Just type in Wall Mart and you'll get an eye and ear full of just how corrupt this company is.
As far as the anger and resentment go yes it is there. I for one am sick to death of this system we have in place, not just here at home but abroad and all i hear from Hillary until recently when she changed her tune to try and appeal to Edwards and Obama supporters was that there where certain things that just were not going to change. In his endorsement of Hillary, Senator John Murtha said " I believe that Hillary Clinton is most qualified Because she understands that certain things in Washington will not change and will not waist time trying to get those things changed". For myself and all the other Obama and Edward supporters who are now in the Obama camp, this stated mentality sums up why Hillary Clinton did not and will not get our vote. For those wondering why I speak of John Edwards supporters in connection to Obama, it is because in my opinion Edwards never needed to give his supporters ( of which i was one until he dropped out) an endorsement of another candidate was because he had already made it abundantly clear that he thought Hillary Clinton was not interested in addressing the Progressive agendas being sought particularly by members of the democratic party but also many Americans across party lines and especially by his supporters. Given this many times stated opinion why would any of his supporters need him to say specifically if you want these progressive agendas addressed don't vote for Hillary Clinton, its a given.

Neither Barack Obama, nor Hillary Clinton can win the nomination without the super delegates.
Any other doublespeak by hombre76 or the media is just manipulation of the facts.
With the delegates from primaries already held and the super delegates who've already pledged, there is only a difference of 13 delegates.
That is a statistical tie.
Obama needs to get super delegates to change their support from Hillary Clinton to win.
Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have to convince the super delegates to support them.
But the Obama supporters and the media obscure the truth to bully Hilary Clinton to quit.
Maybe Obama should be bullied to quit because he has less support among super delegates.
hombre76's angry tirade and threat to Hillary supporters is, unfortunately, the negative bullying tone of many Obama supporters. Any objective observer can see that Obama's candidacy is fueled by deeply felt anger that, while in some cases, righteous, is a poor motivation for choosing a leader.
Despite the double-speak by hombre76 about Barack Obama contributors, Obama has lots of support, monetary and in-kind from big money corporations. His campaign has just been slick about channeling the money through private contributions by corporate execs and employees, eg. Exelon contributions were submitted as private contributions.
Obama proved he will do what big corporate interests and Senate Republicans want when he gutted the Senate bill to protect citizens from radioactive emissions after getting contributions from Exelon and let it die on the Senate floor (but lied to Iowa voters and said he'd proposed and passed a bill to protect Americans).
The genesis of Obama's candidacy is to destroy Hillary Clinton and to stop America from having a woman president. If you look at the political operatives behind Obama's meteoric rise like David Axelrod and his supporters Tom Daschle, and now Christopher Dodd, it is clear that much of what motivates Obama operatives and supporters is an irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton, resentment of Bill Clinton (usually for personal petty reasons), and a deep seated sexism.
We've had 43 men Presidents and America is on the brink of destruction environmentally, economically and politically.
People should ask why it was so important to push an inexperienced man to challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.
American needs to give a woman a chance to make real change, but instead the Democrats will put up another man, and it'll be more of the same.
Look at the people who are supporting Obama. The latest is Lee Hamilton who brought us the whitewash of the 9/11 commission report. Obama is supported by the old guard and big corporations. Don't be fooled by what he or his campaign says. They are behind Obama because they know he'll smile and tell the people he passed laws to protect them when he really doesn't pass any bills that hurt his corporate supporters like nuclear energy.

Touchart: first off there have been no controbutions to Oboma's campain during this primary other than individual donations totaling no more than the maximum a private individual is alowed under law from individual citizens who happen to also be involved in a corporation as a CEO or other leadeing member. Second Obama is leading in the popular and the pleadge deligate count and failing land slide victorys for Hillary in all of the remaining states this lead will endure. So, no, Senator Obama does not need the super deligates to give him the election he need them to respect the will of the MAJORITY of the Democratic Party. Senator Clinton on the other hand short of the popular and or Pledge Delegate turn around would indeed be asking the Super Delegates to overturn the will of the MAJORITY of the Democatic Partys members. Any discusion of overturning the peoples choice of nominee based on how viable they are in a national election (particularly when based on any poling) is probly the most undemocratic thing i can think of.
Last but not least stop this maniac BS it realy degrading and insulting i and all the other people i know who are or have voted fr obama in primarys are doing so because we have made an informed and rational decision. This is not a frickin Cult! Its real deal with it! we are not interested in negotiations with multinational money interests like hillary keeps insisting we have to do like its their way or nothing. Well I and all us smart, capable, Obama suporters are here to let you Hillary supporters, the rest of this nation and all the persons out there whos resource rivals that of nations that we have an alternative and we will be introducing it with the arival of Barack Obama to the white house. I don't think she will loose Indiana, her ties are deep and we are an easy state to predict. If she looses us she will withdraw undoubtedly but I doubt she will loose. She has campaignes along with Bill and Chelsea here in fact Bill has visited almost ten times, and has even been to more college campuses than Obama. He has even given the comencement speaches at more than one. Hillary was in charge of the Carter campaign in Indiana in 1976 and has long relationships with each party leader here. The only significant endorsements obama has recieved in Indiana are from Lee Hamilton of the 9/11 commison and Baker Hamilton report, and two former congressmen. Evan Bayh is her presumptive Veep nominee and her campaign cochair and for the moment Cheif surrogate after Bill. Many democrats here are moderate and sadly few in number as Indiana has only voted democrat nationaly three times this century. Three times voting against favorite sons in the Presidency or Vice Presidency in national elections for the democratic party. I am however heartened by the fact that my vote counts for once! you have no idea how stifling it is to know the results of an election before it is held. However the race is close, with surrogates like Ethel Kennedy and RFK Jr. working for opposite sides of the campaign. Obama has more volunteers and has raised more money than her in this state and almost four times the amount from the McCain and more than all of the republican candidates combined.
I am not worried about Rezko or Reverand wright. The Chicago tribune ran an article where Barack was honest about both relationships. Saying ask anything you like, and not shying away form tough questions. I agreed with their assesment that they couldn't recall a simmilar political dialogue. I think that much of this political cylce is about generational differentials and I am glad to see my generation active and influential. It has been inspiring and it has made me beleive a new political dialogue is possible. Perhaps that means as pepole have said in the past that the nomination process should be overhauled, should be more democratic. As Bill put it "if you are worried about votes between two popular democratic candidates you aren't very democratic are you?" Thanks for posting this, I got a real kick out of it.

BurningBush. Bill Maher's point is you can easily turn that around and be just as accurate.
Say, "Let's face reality -- there is no way that Obama can win this. When will he face up to this? Once he loses Pennsylvania, I hope."
Barack Obama can't win on the delegate count alone at this point, anymore than Hillary can.
Why does it take Bill Maher to point that Barack has to depend on the super delegates to throw the race his way out to a media that wants the voters to think that it's only Hillary who depends on the super delegates and want Americans to think the race is already over?
Barack Obama can only win now with the delegate count if Hillary quits.
Why should she? Almost half of the democrats who've already voted picked Hillary. There are still 10 states left to vote, some pivotal, like Pennsylvania, and two states, Florida and Michigan have yet to be counted.
Pennsylvania will be the first big democratic primary since revelations about Barack Obama's record like his telling voters in Iowa he had passed a Senate bill regulating nuclear plants to report radiative substances into the air and water to protect Americans when, in fact, he gutted the bill to please his donors in the nuclear industry and let it die on the Senate floor, his several conflicting versions of the number of years he was part of Reverend Wright's church, his failure to speak out against the negative tenor of his pastor's and spiritual advisor's sermons over a 13, or, 17, or 20 year period, and his association with questionable business interests in Chicago like Rezko,to mention only a few issues that are worrying Democratic voters.
Right now, it is a statistical a tie, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are only 143 delegates apart from the states in which primaries have already been held. And if you count the superdelegates with Hillary's current lead in pledged superdelegates, she is ahead and wins.
Why does it take Bill Maher to point out that math? - 4 years ago

Yes, I think all Americans should have their voice in the primaries, like they always have. But the majority of Americans have had their voice and its time for the democrats to come together.
Let's face reality -- there is no way that Hillary can win this. When will she face up to this? Once she loses Indiana, I hope.
Four years ago democrats came together for Kerry and got a head start on bolstering his campaign. This helped him tremendously (too bad he was such a weak candidate).

It's nice to see a glimmer of hope for Bill Maher. His unflagging support of all-talk-barack made his show a bore for many weeks, and he was just not funny at all. It appears that he is realizing that half his audience supports Hillary and he is losing them to his prejudicial remarks favoring Obama.
No matter who wins the primarys after all is said and done and the super delegates determine who can win the big states--(Hillary)--we all must come together in November to put her in the White House. Otherwise it is 4 years of McBush and the country can't survive that horror.
Seriously Obamaniacs, he isn't ready for prime time. It's not enough to be black and give good speeches. You have to be able to deal with the world and the GopPigs. We all know he is not the guy to handle such responsibility and she is. And maybe even Bill Maher knows that now.

I can understand Bill's point, and I will vote for the Democrats either way, but my concern is for the people that are torn between the parties. If Hilary gets the nomination, the Republican Slime Machine--as Bill Maher calls them--will rip her to pieces and she will most likely pull some self-destructive act in the end.
Obama on the other hand, has really been able to look past all of the negative press and the shenanigans of politics--and he wants something that most American's want--unity. And of course he doesn't carry nearly as much baggage as the Clinton's do.

JanForGore, I think this country has a long way to go before we can elect a president again. First, the MSM either needs to get honest, or get going, because they corrupt our elections.
Second, like Al Gore said in "The Assault On Reason" we need to start debating again and interacting ideas. We need to get our kids educated and get them to understand why it's important to vote.
It's a long shot, but hey, we can do anything, right?
