Thank you for your response. I find this fascinating as I find Leonardo DaVinci to be a brilliant interesting man. I will surely be looking for more of your posts on this subject.

Yes , I have discovered this same congenital hand in other works. Most Leonardo's have been painted over , restored through the centuries. The Madonna and the Yarnwinder was recently studied using infrared photography. In another submission i show the infrared, it shows the same congenital hand, but the hand hand on the outside was actually a result of a restoration in the 1700's.
Probably the owner thought the hands were ugly and wanted them pretty, hard to know. There are other works that I am in the process of releasing but it is very hard to get access to the infrareds.
If a museum has what they think is a Leonardo they normally are afraid to use high tech science on it, since they rather have there so-called then know everything about it and find out it is not!
thanks for the insightful question, best, ben - 3 years ago

Was this his way of leaving his signature on it? Does this feature appear on any other paintings of his in subjects? Interesting.

Hi there...thanks for checking my submission. Regarding Jesus in Last Supper is syndactyly. Though great even Leonardo did not know what Christ looked like but the hand in the Last Supper is definitely syndactyly and missed for some reason for 500 years... Why? Leonardo knew how we percieve thus he knew we seek our own idea of beauty upon the fresco and miss such an obvious detail. The art world prides itself on being able to tell a Leonardo painting based on the hands. They obviously missed this left hand, though a child with the same anomalous hand from mexico saw this and imediately saw the hand as syndactyly. In fact Bree Walker (noted for ectrodactyly hands) when she saw it she was in tears.
I surmise two reasons one biblical... Related Chapter 3 of Mark>> and it relates to being blind to the truth and a withered hand is involves... checkout

second he had same anomalous hand as the hand found in his notebooks that historically is by him and of his own hand. Thanks for checking this out and tell your friends, best, ben - 3 years ago

i think its stupid that people make a big deal of this kind of thing. jesus was alive way before da vinci. nobody really knows what jesus really looked like. art is not perfect either........everybody makes mistakes and nothing and nobody is perfect.

thanks vincius, I found the link very compelling and the explanation very palatable. I liked the Latin and English comparative translation, that was cool too.

This is a quite interesting report. What I didn't think was clear was if they were saying that Jesus had syndactyly or just in the painting because it Leonardo put a little of himself in Jesus.
