Muxtape launched, then the next day *everybody* had one, then the next day we made some for each other, and then the next day we all sorta stopped using it and waited for the RIAA to get pissed.
According to Muxtape: "Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA."
In the meantime, you could always make a REAL mixtape / cd.. .

The best way to stick Apple in it's seeds - is to buy directly from your favorite artists on their own websites (unless you're into top40 crap - they tend to be run off of conglomerates)...
At least the talent gets to eat then.

That's such sad news! There's MixTurtle where you can find songs and build playlists by key words. It's not the same... but it's music!

Muxtape is (was?) very nice but too limited.
I prefer to create playlists on Last.fm or stream on The Hype Machine. Losing those two websites would be tragic...

iTunes vs. Pandora (or Muxtape) is an apples to oranges comparison. Buying versus streaming. The business rules for buying and selling copies of digital music are a lot less complex that the ones for streaming.
But yes, I would say that if you want music, the sure bet is to own it, not "borrow" it.
