I like my glasses. They are fashionable cool. Even though bionic lens would be pretty kick ass.

Won't be long before these lenses transmit what you are seeing to big brother as well. Actually, I'd bet money that this technology already exists, just isn't public yet. How 'bout them apples, everyone becomes a spy!

How long have they had it. Everytime these things make the news that lets me know it's been around at least 20 years. Now the cost is coming down.

Guess I'll have to find a new use for those new glasses I ordered.

Are the "side effects" that our eyes look like the picture in this post... cause that is a little freaky and would, for sure, take some serious reflection before indulging in that type of change... hmmm? Wow though, I'm excited for the future generations in that in terms of importance... seeing is on the top with me! So different, I suppose, for the unsighted...

Finally!!!! Makes me feel better since my vision has been getting worse and worse since 8th grade. I was wondering when they would come up with something like this, hopefully they arent the hard material.

Very cool. In the same way that glasses can be customised in terms of shape, colour etc, what's the likelihood of being able to add an X-Ray or laser functionality to one's sparkling new bionic lens?

Hmm... I don't want them to put shit in my eyes.

I have a few body related phobias-- getting stuff jammed *into* my eyeballs, having something stab through my abdomen, and getting my scrotum torn open climbing a fence.

Wow! i was considering laser surgery this year but I'm happy to wait a few years for a bionic eye!

This is brilliant news. I'm sure anyone who's experienced visual impairment and could be helped by this kind of technology is thrilled. The only question is, will anyone be allowed to have it by their local health authority or will it be deemed too expensive?

I have been talking about "bionic eyes" for years! Seriously! Why don't we have these things yet? Eyes/ears first, then limbs perhaps? Now if they could just cure dandruff!
