Litigations will rise 80% following the introduction of the ''Bionic Contact Lens'' to the market! Burned retinas, people who were simply near sighted or far sighted will go blind due to short circuiting! just watch you'll see! LOL

Won't be long before these lenses transmit what you are seeing to big brother as well. Actually, I'd bet money that this technology already exists, just isn't public yet. How 'bout them apples, everyone becomes a spy!

How long have they had it. Everytime these things make the news that lets me know it's been around at least 20 years. Now the cost is coming down.

Are the "side effects" that our eyes look like the picture in this post... cause that is a little freaky and would, for sure, take some serious reflection before indulging in that type of change... hmmm? Wow though, I'm excited for the future generations in that in terms of importance... seeing is on the top with me! So different, I suppose, for the unsighted...

Finally!!!! Makes me feel better since my vision has been getting worse and worse since 8th grade. I was wondering when they would come up with something like this, hopefully they arent the hard material.

Great news. I hope they'll soon also be able to develop other treatments for people with congenital eye defects, like inherited myopia, etc.

Very cool. In the same way that glasses can be customised in terms of shape, colour etc, what's the likelihood of being able to add an X-Ray or laser functionality to one's sparkling new bionic lens?

That would be terrific if it could restore sight for the blind.
I wish it could glow in the dark, that would be cool on Halloween, but not so much on a date. - 3 years ago

Hmm... I don't want them to put shit in my eyes.
I have a few body related phobias-- getting stuff jammed *into* my eyeballs, having something stab through my abdomen, and getting my scrotum torn open climbing a fence.
Now i have the heebiejeebies

This is brilliant news. I'm sure anyone who's experienced visual impairment and could be helped by this kind of technology is thrilled. The only question is, will anyone be allowed to have it by their local health authority or will it be deemed too expensive?

Wait...I've been wearing glasses for about 8 years now. I don't believe that I have been discriminated against. Most of my friends wear glasses, too. I'd like to know how you or an example of someone who's been discriminated against for their glasses.

They call me all sorts of things like nerd, and what not, but they're just humans, but also its discrimination, i guess it just the way things are with peoples aspects of being different in school such as mine, but again not very sure of the reason, it just started...

People in general will always find a way to make someone an "other" and it never matters what it is. You could be the most normal/average person and they will find something to make you "different." I am surprised about being made fun of for glasses...I wanted glasses in HS. Ha! Go figure!

it's the nature of some kids to find a fault in other kids and exploit them.
I wore glasses in high school and yeah, I was picked on.. my glasses were broke in fights (for my dignity), they were broken when balls were kicked at my face (that was a hilarious accident...though my mom wasn't too happy).. It changed in college and beyond.. no one gave a crap that I wore glasses.
