Amazingly, an item is stolen from a UK shop on average every 90 seconds, and fears are this could go up as more people find themselves unable to afford the essentials.

Pretty soon everything is going to be security tagged. As long as they keep the tags on the outside of the packaging and not in the meat itself...

Razors for a while have been security tagged but thats because there the most stolen item and sell well at any car boot sale.
Things are going to start going missing more and more. I don't know about anyone else but having been out of work for 6 weeks now I realizing that work is near impossible to find and taking about Minimuim Wage not jobs that are in line with inflation. I am sure there will people greater shoplifting as christmas approaches.

The other day in Tesco I noticed that there were little notices next the the price of chickens that read something like "Please note that there are security cameras in operation in this shop" but I couldn't find them anywhere else. I thought that was very strange

I'm not sure if the credit crunch is going to push people who wouldn't normally steal over the edge and force them to steal meat...

They've been doing this for quite a while in some areas. I know my local shop has all the coffee behind the counter, took me ages to figure out why I couldn't find any Nescafe on the shelf next to the teabags.
