WHat if you have to bend over to tie your shoe, will it shock you for slouching over. or when you have to take a dump. I dont think it would be a good experience, getting shocked for using the bathroom. I would think it could get bothersome when your tired and leaning over falling asleep in your chair and the device is buzzing at you.

I wouldn't be able to wear that thing five minutes without getting shocked a handful of times. I rather be a hunchback than a slave to technology, but that's just me...

People should have the self-awareness to notice when they slouch without being zapped.

There are a number of reasons people slouch, but the most common reason is because the muscles in your front have shortened and those in your back have lengthened. This is mostly caused by the habit of slouching in the first place, so just making the effort to sit up straight will fix it in the long run.
I was told that by a back doctor ages ago but I just can't keep the effort up, so this inventions perfect!

So, if I reach for something, does it mistake that for slouching? That would really suck.

It is just another junkie SEEN ON TV product that most likely won't work or will break extremely fast. Apple should shut them down, I only clicked because I thought iPosture was an iPod product.

i'll tell you what , it seems at times that slouching is a sign of de-volution - a great many people are slowly beginning the transformation back to walking on 4 legs . the further over you bend , the closer to the ground . simple .

This reminds me of this strap I found while reading Sky Mall, which when you wear it pulls your shoulders back and straightens your posture. I've actually considered getting it a couple times.
Good posture does wonders to your body, especially because it allows your organs to be situated more comfortably. Heavy slouching a bad posture doesn't allow your lungs to be used to 100% of their capacity, and not breathing properly can make you feel down and lazy.
Even as I type this, I'm slouched in my chair with my feet ontop of my computer tower.

Are these made for guys and girls? I think our gender needs them more then the ladies. I have the worst posture. And with some of my more computer savvy friends it looks like they are de-evolving with how badly their slouch is.

hahah i would buy that. Posture is very important, yet most people slouch cause it feels better...but only in the short term. Poor posture has harmful longer term effects

No, there are better ways. Like paying attention to how you sit. If I get it for Christmas though, I can take it back to get something useful.

The problem with this device is that it may tell you when you are slouching, but it can do nothing about the reasons that you are slouching, like tight, over shortened/ lengthened muscles, weak back muscles, too strong (by comparison to the back) ab muscles, improperly situated pelvis...
If all it took was sitting up straight, we'd all have great posture. But really, try to just sit up straight and hold it with no other treatment. You see that parts of your body begin to ache, fatigue, and flat out hurt. That is an indication that not all's well with the system. A device like this may actually make things worse by forcing the user into an even more unnatural state than their body has already taken. Remember, the body will compensate, and that's not healthy.
