    • BULLSHIT, they gave the public a date and ample warning, keep your word, hold yourself and the public accoutable. This sends a message that the govt. will continue to enable to complacent.

How about giving me extra time to pay taxes or registration of vehicles. Do what you say, and say what you do. More worming from the worms.

    • I'm not upset by this at all. I get better reception without the digital box. Sure some channel work really well, but then there are the other 2/3rds that I can't get at all. Hmmm... I'll have to save up for the $120 antenna to get pbs now, or stick with my local fox station. What should I do?

    • Well the only good thing is going to be the price drops, everything is going to have to come down in order to accommodate the rest of the consumer base.

    • This is sad. I've been listening to the countdown now way longer than I should have been. Change the darn thing and get on with life. Those left behind will either catch up or not. Their decision. This thing has been advertised so much there is just no way anyone can say they didn't know. If these people just now decide to do something about it, to bad. They've had 4 years. Can you imagine if Congress canceled Christmas because someone wasn't repaired? Get real, the fact that tax dollars will be spent to supply boxes to those who can't afford it is just crazy. Who gave them the TV set to begin with? Time to move on.

    • HORRIBLE decision.

Before anyone mentions the market, market based mechanisms have proven themselves (historically) to be very inefficient in promoting a social good when that social good is elusive or not readily discernible (basically, a market won't promote a social good if the good is not a personal benefit that is easily grasped and realized).

So, here we are in a recession where we want those consumers who can spend, to start spending again and we take away a spending stimulus??? WTF?

    • This transition has been in place since 2005, the converter boxes have been out since last year, every other commercial talks about the DTV transition, and yet we're not ready? Luxembourg, Holland, Finland, Andorra, Sweden, and Switzerland have already converted, so get on the train!

    • There was plenty of time for the stations to comply. America, leading the way on digital. Great, because we have been behind in so many things.

    • Good luck getting the news to the people. It took long enough to make people aware that it was going to happen, and I gurantee you, when February 19th comes around, someone will think it was all a hoax to scam people out of the money used to buy converters.
