While we've had RF-blocking paint to cellphone signals for some time, manufacturers have been thwarted when attempting to stop higher frequencies, like we have on home networks.

My college uses this in its classrooms. I think it's mostly for businesses, schools or other.

Do we really want to introduce another chemical anomaly into the biosphere?

computers are kinda like cars... sure I can't perform a total engine overhaul, but at least I know how to change the oil, filters, fluids and things.... computers are the same way... sure, no need to know everything about computers or networking, but come on! you should at least know how to control your wi-fi connections and information.

Come on! I had someone teach me how to change my engine oil, fluids, plugs, etc. Nobody's here to show me how to get through my internet connections. When new hardware/software walks you through the initial set-up, it's very difficult to LEARN what you are actually doing. When something goes down - months or years later - then what? Maybe you can suggest where I can go to learn what secret numbers go into the DNS, WEP, WAP, TCIP, etc., boxes?

I'm not very computer savvy. I am afraid to hide my network in case my computer loses it and I have to find it again. All the headaches to get it set up by myself (oh with a little help from D-Link software) make me NOT want to go through that again.

I think it would be much easier just to disable broadcasting and add encryption. (WPA and better, if possible, or regularly changed WEP)
Anyone who is going to find you probably did because you made enemies with someone who is fairly smart, or a skiddie. (more than likely the latter)

This is a dump invention. All you have to do is making your accesspoint invisible by uncheck the visible box, No one will see your access point. All you have to do is type in the name of your accesspoint. (include with WPE or equivalent)
Why have to spend thousand of dollars to repaint your house? Still not able to block totally because you can't paint your windows.

I really don't know where this is going to go. At this point the only function this product seems to have is to provide a simple solution to a complex problem. Not every one is computer savvy, but any monkey can paint a wall.
However, what I am more interested in is how this might expand beyond it means to be used in some other way besides it's intended purpose.

What would be nice is if the paint could eliminate the ability to receive the other wifi hotspots from getting into your apartment. Then it would mean cleaner operation of your own hotspot, which means.. more bandwidth!

Do you really need paint that can block low level radiation???
Remeber when people wanted a natural mineral fiber that was fireproof?? (asbestos!)

As many have commented on the article, a sound password, changed regularly is a much more economic and environmentally friendly solution. Cool tech, but I don't see the point.
